At last a team that we can all support, i presume that they will not recieve payment for taking part in the squad and they have to make themselves available to be included so its all about the glory.

It will be interesting to see which senior players put themselves up for it.

    Oh and an English manager.

A team that nobody but England wants to be involved with and you would rather lend your support here Weighty. If you hadn't noticed, the other home nations are fiercely proud of their country and hate the English. We on the other hand pretend to like the Scottish, Welsh etc in the hope they will return the favour.

Complete waste of time, no doubt all players will encounter a tough league season, at the end of that its euro 2012, surely thats enough, it will have a friendly carnival type atmosphere, in other words, absolute rubbish. Will not waste my time watching this nonsense, mark my words, it will be a flop.

The Olympics does offer younger players a chance to go to a big spectacle (and the Olympics is big, although not in footballing terms) and see how they compare to sides that can go with a full strength team.

However, with all the other home nations being against the idea, it does seem like whatever Pearce does won't be right. He needs to pick mostly English players because, without being big-headed, they are better than the majority of the Welsh, Northern Irish and Scottish players.

I hope football ends up as a sideshow anyway. Gordon Strachan summed it up on Football Focus saying something along the lines of "It detracts from the other athletes hard work."

Isn't the majority of the players going to be under 21's plus a three older heads like beckham & owen? so Euro 2012 probably won't have great influence on it.

i can't see why people are being so pooey about it to be honest. it will be good experience for the younger players, it should be good to watch and as far as i'm aware is nothing to do with the pompous back hand taking jezzibels that we know as fifa.
