Take money for green energy, even if the subscriptions exceed the amount of energy produced, or fund tree planting to count as carbon offsetting, even if the bulk don't survive much beyond being saplings, and those that do tend to be the wrong ones, so damage biodiversity. We can crunch the numbers so it looks like an improvement. They'll never notice.

Still it gives us that virtuous glow, and we can silence those pointing at the Emperors willy by calling them ignorant deniers, even though our suggestions will kill millions and leave even more in hardship, and is unlikely to actually solve the issue we claim exists.
