People have short memories... he had a cracking season for us alongside Jonny Evans and we were sorry to have that partnership broken, but lucky enough to have Soyuncu step in and to also use some of the money to invest in Fofana ... could see him being very good at West Ham for instance ... ideally needs a quick neat type to play alongside him ...
You on a wind-up? You weren't sorry , you got £80M for a fooking donkey. As for Jonny Evans... He'd be better in the Championship where he came from, you looking for a new CB by any chance?
Well, he didn't win the world cup on his own, he had someone alongside him. Would Maguire fit there? I'd say yes. He's a scapegoat for some reason. I definitely don't understand why United supporters would turn against him as he always puts top effort in, but then the only ones who are are the ridiculous plastic social media element who know **** all about it. He's a decent centre half, England international. He just doesn't fit with what ten Hag wants. Which I ****ing hope works this season. It's a left back by the way (Shaw) not a right back.
Maguire has made loads of mistakes these last couple of seasons. He is easily caught out of position and always gets done for speed. He may well have been a good centre back previously but you need to have been living on another planet to think he can do a job for a top club. He gets his game for England because he’s at Man Utd and a favourite for Southgate. When he moves/England get a new manager he’ll be dropped. He’s hardly getting in the England side on merit, is he?
I remember Maguire playing L1 football, he was a donkey then and still was when @FosseFilberto lot mugged United over the sale of him - I nigh pissed myself laughing and said so at the time, that £80M was ridiculous, but that's the stupidity and mentality of the Premiership. #Solskjaer
Agreed, the fact that Liverpool paid less for Van Dijk is hilarious. VVD isnt the player he use to be now, but for three seasons he was arguably the best CB in Europe, where as Maguire isnt even the best CB at Man Utd
Evans is ow training with Manchester United (favour from them) ... his contract with us ended in June ... his legs are all but gone ... We don't need centre-backs - we have Faes, Coady, Vestergaard, Souttar, Callum Doyle and a lad from the academy (Ben Nelson) that is on the first team periphery ... Vestergaard and Souttar played together in the second half at Northampton on Saturday... they are fookin' huge ... and the lad Doyle (on loan from Citeh) is also massive ... but much quicker and reportedly excellent on the ball (was on loan at Cov last season - reached the play-offs) ... Can't keep them all - feel a little sorry for Vestergaard - didn't really get a sniff under Brendego ..
I always rated Vestergaard, he was a decent player. Rodgers seemed to have some sort of vendetta against him or some ****. Made him train with the reserves and all that. Was a starter for the Denmark national team but couldnt get a sniff at Leicester! He was a beast at Munchengladbach and Southampton
When we were crying out for a dominant centre-back, what Brenda did was verging on criminal ... He can get caught out by pace, for sure, but he has a decent touch and is a fine exponent of the long range pass ... perhaps the best on our books ... given that Barnes was arguably our most potent threat, Rodgers tactics in not playing the one guy capable of finding him accurately from the back was stupifying in its' arrogance ...
Nah vestergaard is a big oaf. Definition of lower prem level centre back with a team who has to play deep
Not saying he is world class, but he definitely was better than any of the centre backs Leicester had on their books last season, except maybe Soyuncu. Certainly good enough to do a job for Leicester.
Thing that I find funny with a number of Maguire's **** ups is that he seems to move in slow motion. It's like someone's got a remote pointed at him and hitting some 0.5x speed setting. ****ing hero though, brought joy to many. Long live Slabhead.
