With all this great praise Suarez is getting, being better than Messi etc (on LFC TV last night), at the back of my mind I have this awful feeling that IF Liverpool don`t get a CLs place at the end of the season he would be off. To me there is no loyalty in football anymore. Even though Suarez has said he would like to stay at Liverpool for many years, do you REALLY believe him?

Don't worry; he'll stay until 2013. He'll start looking for a bigger club next summer and move in 2013 say.

He will not leave in the summer

I'd imagine the bid would have to be monstrous for us to even entertain the idea of selling him. 60m+ at the very leas. who said money ball wouldn't work in football...

of course. There is no way Ajax were ever in the position of asking the sort of fees we could ask so we brought him at the maximum they could possibly sell him for, knowing that should we have to sell him in future we'll be in a position to ask for a higher fee. There are other statistics Damian Comolli has admitted to researching before buying him, these are

    • Injury Record
    • Number of games player
    • Performance Vs. good teams
    • Performance Vs. Weak teams
    • Number of assists
    • Goals scored at home
    • Goals scored away

on current form CL spot is a dream (i sincerely hope not). but a cup -carling or fa would do some magic for next season.

Since Torres left I've had my doubts about Suarez's "loyalty". I'll enjoy him whilst he's here but, with no CL, can't see him finishing his contract. If CL clubs want him they'll pay through the nose for him.

Well he'll still have 4 years on his contract in the summer, and I think the earliest we'd be prepared to let him go (reluctantly) would be 2014 when he has 2 years left. At which point you'd imagine he could command a massive fee. If he continues, anyway.

Do you know what name he has lined up for his net child lettuce? or if it's a boy or a girl?

Torres had time left on his contract - he buggered off.
Torres said how much he loved LFC - he buggered off.

There's nothing to say Suarez won't do the same. I agree with the OP, there is no loyalty any more. Gone are the days of the likes of Jimmy Case who stuck with the same club for years. It's full of money-driven glory hunters now, with exceptions like Gerrard and Carra.

There is the worry that lack of CL football may influence his decision, but I reckon Suarez will do his best to get us back to that level. It's in his interests. Torres gave up too easily.

With all due respect to Gerrard and Carragher, I don't remember that many teams ever enquiring about the pair. Chelsea almost got their man after Gerrard handed in a transfer request, not sure what made him changed his mind.

Re. Carragher, I don't think he has had the opportunity to move because no one else wants him so it's easy for him to remain 'loyal'. Players like Suarez and Torres are top quality and will have always have big teams chasing them. At the end of the day, I don't care if a player moves on for financial reasons or to play for a bigger club - I would do exactly the same in my profession.

I don't think Suarez would leave in the summer but we need to improve a lot more - we've most definately improved with regards to our performances but the results have been poor (poor maybe the wrong word, but they do not reflect our performances). As mentioned earlier, winning a cup or champ league qualification would be enough to keep our big players and to also attract better players.

think of the next 50million we'll get... then think of the fact that he's 24, we'll get about 8 years max out of him and the fact that torres proves theres always another guy round the corner.

I'm fine with the whole thing once the club go do their job professionally and get the max out of him... on the field and then for selling him if needs be.

I agree with this, sad state of affairs ,but this is football in the modern era, which is why Id offer him a big new contract, to make it hard for him to leave and if he does leave , we get an obscene fee for him(close to £100m)
