I get that its 37c still where they're playing, but some of the passing/crossing has been far too casual.
I am so scarred by Saints that the thought ‘oh no, not another season of this’ keeps going through my head.
Not watching but looking at the comments I’m going to guess that we are playing keep ball and ultimately do **** all with it then get hit on the counter. Basically the template to 80% of games last year
Yeah. We are absolutely terrible as usual. Fun stat: My daughter has learned to walk AND talk since saints last won a game
We just don’t really move off the ball. That is how it has felt to me for a year or so. We are so static. It doesn’t help that the defenders are so slow of brain.
Fun fact: The first shirt I’ve bought my son is a Man City Haaland one as I want him to have a better football fan life than me
Patterns of play emerging, and some nice ones at that. Martin seems to have helped pick the players up off the floor in only a short space of time. Some of the players look like they don't want to be out there but that could just be due to the intense heat.
Caveats regarding it only being pre-season, gaining fitness etc etc accepted. BUT. That was all very familiar, and that's not a terribly good thing. It was very '22/'23 Saints. He's playing JWP a bit further forwards, which is good, but our movement ahead of the ball is, again, so static - and that won't work playing this style. Smallbone in particular just didn't really seem to understand about moving into space and giving the defenders an option. Tino hasn't had one of his better games either, and Tella looks like the Saints version, rather than the Burnley one. Lyanco is just not good enough either. On the positive front, Goztepe have great fans, and I'd take Aliou Traore from them ahead of Aribo any day of the week.
