No not embarassed for you, as I say some have a hatred based on other things. But the numbers who have hated Liverpool since they took Enrique and Carroll is uncanny! I'm hugely embarrassed for those types because its a bit pathetic really. Each to their own as always but it does make me cringe. We get **** from all fans and termed all sorts of things. It really doesn't bother me as I tend to feel sorry for them that they are two thick to disassociate themselves from our half brained national press.

God if i hated a set of people for nicking players the list would be endless we are newcastle after all and during the 80's all our silver so to speak was sold for coppers but like you i don't really care how people lump us in a group.
it's weird really i'm sure others have had the same experiences as i have but with people from other areas.
Think it could be the dogleash factor as well as those you mentioned but like i said one day i'll meet a decent one also try to not prejudge people and give them a chance.

Its the Spurs dislike, especially on old 606, that confused me. Reading the boards you'd think they were our local rivals, which never remotely translated to match days. Bizarre.

As far as Liverpool are concerned I've no doubt Carroll and Enrique will be booed at SJP, and so they should, its all part of the pantomime of football.

I prefer the way we used to do it. Give them an almighty cheer when they are announced before the game, then boo every touch in a jovial fashion. That is true footballing pantomime. Sir les loved it when he got the treatment, said it summed up our humour.

It did, but Sir Les was a legend. I partly agree with your stance that people on here dislike anyone who moves, but the way that Enrique conducted himself pre-move deserves nothing but scorn in my eyes. I think I was the one person who clapped Michael Owen last season, but Enrique and Barton will be getting no such treatment from me.

I don't see why the bitterness is necessary, you mugged us in the Carroll deal, and we mugged you in the Enrique deal so we should be even.

used to love how the opposing keeper would run up to the goal before kick off and the fans would clap and cheer the keeper would then look and clap to be met with boos and abuse <laugh> ah the good old days haven't been for years do they still do this

Oh right so a 25 year old who is without doubt one of the best left back's in the league defo in the top 3 is worth £6mil?? Come on. Granted he wanted to leave but if you let a player who want's to leave run his contract down then you are asking for trouble. If we sold him now he would be £20mil at least.

last year of his contract though. It was either accept your offer or let him go for even less in jan/nowt in the summer (not a hard choice for MA). Still a bit undervalued but hardly ripped off. Clichy was in a similar position and went for a similar price.

    this ^
every team has lost a good player or gained a good player for stupid money due to his contract running out it's the way of football so no we haven't been ripped of and you mustn't have a good understanding of the transfer market.good example is hoillet Blackburn want 18m for him despite his contract being up in the summer i'd be amazed if he goes for half that

10m is a more realistic valuation

Enrique would only go for £20m if Liverpool somehow found a way to sell him to Liverpool. £6-10m is about a fair value for him, he's only a full back. To get that with months remaining on his contract is superb business, even if I would rather still have Jose (despite Taylor beating his total goal count already in one season).

i think Liverpool have the reputation we had under Keegan once they go in for a player clubs know they will spend stupid money for a player so his value doubles.I used hoillet as an example above but thinking about it if liverpool go for him i'd say they will have to pay 10m+ if they don't i can see him going for around 6m to 7m

There's another Liverpool that play in Montevideo, but they don't have any players called Enrique.
