I think Lavia's injury early in the season was the reason we went down. We looked good up until that point.
I remember the Chelsea home game (and to a lesser extent Utd a few days earlier) and thinking blimey, we're going to be in for a fantastic season. The team were playing well and even players like Arma and Djenepo were playing well & like new signings. Proved to be the only real highlight of the season. By December I'd resigned myself to going down
Sounds like Fulham might be receiving a nice windfall from Saudi Arabia for Mitrovic. So maybe a chunk of that will come our way for Che.
I felt the same too. It looked for a brief moment that Ralph had, at last, been able to assemble the squad he wanted. I had forgotten about Lavia being out injured but , in my opinion, we went down because too many of the influential players all performed well below their capabilities. There are only a few players I would be sad to see go. Not fussed about losing Che Adams and was glad to see Diallo moved on today.
I keep looking at this and thinking, have I gone colour blind, is this in blue? I didn’t know people were thinking this. Mismanagement top to bottom, I agree, and that’s what left us with this squad. Parts of it were ok, but which parts? Not enough experience, senior players under performing, strikers who couldn’t score, defenders who couldn’t defend, constant changing strategies, Injuries (Lavia & Stu especially), awful signings, Ralph losing direction, NJ being NJ Add them all up and we were never going to survive
West Ham reportedly in for Edson Alvarez and Zakaria. Can't see them buying a third DM after those. So looks like mighty Fulham could be the destination for Prowsie. If they lose Mitro and Palhinha in this window though, I can see them having a serious case of second season syndrome.
I’d be a bit ashamed of JWP if he went to Fulham. It’s not that unlikely for them to be in the Championship and for us to be back in the Prem next season. Unless he’s getting a move to West Ham/Villa/Newcastle, or a team like that who should be regularly finishing in the top half, what’s the point in leaving? Suppose Brighton could be an option when they get the Caicedo money, but I’d imagine they’ll have another young talent lined up to replace him.
Let’s hope the whole Declan rice saga kicks things off properly in the transfer window, need something to spark the close season into life a bit…
Think that is crystal ball territory at the mo. Probably one of the hardest seasons to predict in a while.
A bit too early to say that. We have no idea what our squad will be like. SR need to get this one right though.
It would be tragic if JWP got relegated from the Prem 2 seasons on the trot Wonder if that’s been done before?
