They were clueless but were just taking orders . They weren’t following orders while they pissed about during February then realised it wouldn’t look great if a herd immunity strategy started wiping people out en masse.
I think some would prefer to ignore the fact that the measures were fully supported by all parties, and Labour kept voicing their view that they weren't strict enough and didn't last long enough. They were cowards, as they knew they'd never be tasked with dealing with the issues, so just wanted to sound like a strong voice, but they mange to **** even doing nothing. I think it needs those bent on pushing some faux political angle pushing out into the wilderness, and as with the search for bullies and perverts, get a full and as unbiased an investigation as possible, and include the 'experts' in that too. They've tried to hide in the shadows for years, and they've been found very wanting once they were pushed into the spotlight. Doing that on one or both of these issues would send a very clear message to budding career politicians and well paid 'experts' that they are accountable. Government and law enforcement is, and always should be by consent.

I was all in favour of herd immunity strategy with some other precautions ie if you had symptoms, stay at home. Lower numbers allowed in supermarkets , crowded places etc . An approach similar to Sweden in the early days . Johnson shat the bed and followed the narrative Shutting down the whole of society did nothing to prevent people catching the new flu. It cost billions (due to ineptitude and , mainly, corruption) and we’re still paying price. fed lies daily whilst they made terrible decisions and lined their pockets
All our political leaders failed and made terrible decisions . As of said , Labour wanted to be stricter (look at wales !!) and the snp where loving life trying to be more authoritarian than everybody else . they should all be held accountable along with Prof Ferguson and his team . I totally agree. There was a lot of laziness and cowardice, as none of them wanted to point at the Emperors Willy and blindly followed a diktat from above, in this case the WHO, whose leader's background would tend to bar him from running a local snooker club, never mind a global organisation.. The so called experts and politicians were shown up by Joe Public on the whole, who had a more reasoned and workable approach that would have resulted in far less damage to children's education, the economy and peoples mental health as well as all the additional burdens on the Health System that now need to be unpicked.

I don't watch TV or read newspapers the latest nonce scandal barely registers , I'm more interested in NATO mugging off Zelenskyy this week. WhatsApp is owned by Zuckerberg if they really want to access the messages or open the phone they can .
