It’s a shame that FPTP stops Count Binface getting the votes he deserves.

It's not something I've spent too much time looking in to, but as I understand it, the basic concept of 15 minute Cities would be sound and welcomed.

In theory, it's simply having all the main aspects and needs of your life withing 15 minutes of your home. It should be driven by free markets that are supported by governments and 'controlled' by consent, not force with movement between them unrestricted and unmonitored beyond existing measures, and driven from the bottom up by putting the facilities in place. I have no idea how it could work in a rural area, but in general and in that format, I think it should be encouraged.

The vision of it being pushed in these clips, and possibly in some places is a bastardisation of the concept that is pushing from the top down, and should be actively opposed.

I agree with the you on the idea , however , I don’t believe these will end up being for our benefit in the long term.

I don't think there's much appetite among the decision makers to push it in most areas of the UK. Sadly, those that have tried to push the top down version have created resistance to the more acceptable version.

I think LEZs are one element
    Low traffic neighbourhoods is another

Resistance to these will die down eventually imo

A city where all you need is within one zone . Takes you 15 minutes to traverse . No need to travel outside of your zone.

It's as I put in my reply above, there are several versions. The innocuous, and in my view acceptable version is that all facilities, such as shops, hospitals, schools, employment etc should be available within 15 minutes of your home. This would be achieved by supporting businesses, and providing the other facilities.

Clearly that can never be the case for all facilities in all areas, especially rural ones, but as a general concept I think it's reasonable, and probably almost in existence in most urban areas anyway. Market forces will decide a lot of it, and it will take some stiff measures to ensure that the facilities in each area are at a suitable standard, and while it may limit things such as school and medical centre choices, people will be totally free to move about between the areas, just as they can now.

The version in the clips above is more claiming that people will be restricted to those areas by control and cameras. Which in my view is unacceptable.

I think the places they could justify having either of those is limited, and local politicians will be wary as it's already cost quite a few of them their seats, as they foolishly listened to the wrong people. People may well respond to a survey saying they support measures to reduce emissions, but they won't do that if it costs them in convenience or money.

Yeah , I said I agree with the concept but it will be abused imo

We are data subjects . All this SMART tech ( Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology) is gathering data .

We have more CCTV being installed in every town and city.

It’s not for our benefit .

Time will tell I suppose and hopefully the messages I’m posting about are wrong .
