It's not quite as "optional" at all really. It is not like everything else in life. Football fans are a captive market, you can't pick another team. There are a large range of ages going, and a large range of tech savvy people among them. Many, many were quite happy with the card they had which will do exactly the same as their phone will do now. An ST holder will wave his phone at a reader, and enter. Last year, and for many years now, you waved a plastic card at a reader, and entered . Usually, the same card you had last season. You could easily lend your card out, which I have done loads of times, as I did when it was paper based. There is no obvious need for change at all IMO. At least not in a fell swoop. I hope it all works well, but if there is chaos and dissatisfaction, it will not be the fans' fault.
Obviously so. It must be the most important matter at hand, above other dysfunctional elements of the off field operation. Odd how many clubs manage to do without this though. I'm sure they're right. But I'm not the only one who won't be renewing because of it.
I contacted the club as requested as I take three of my grandchildren as season ticket holders so even with the standard cards it can be (difficult !) - some days I could do with a sheepdog . Up to now I have not received any contact from SAFC , I will leave it a couple of weeks and then will go to the ticket office as I don’t want to leave anything to chance for the first game of the season . Fingers crossed I can sort something out .
Hettonlass is not connected to the club or gets any inside info. It just copies and pastes what it finds online. I was told on June 26th by Chris Waters that the club would release an update within 2 weeks. Yes that ties in with what's it's posted but that's only because it has seen it either on here or rtg.
Digital Ticketing Update - Important Information to 2023/24 Season Ticket Supporters. Sunderland AFC are encouraging all 2023-24 season ticket holders to ensure their e-ticketing information is up to date. To check if the correct email address is currently registered to your account, simply log in by clicking here. This email address should also be accessible on your smartphone, as this will be required when you enter the Stadium of Light using your digital season ticket. Following the conclusion of this summer’s concerts, the existing turnstiles are currently being replaced and digital ticket readers are being installed. Digital season tickets will be dispatched when this process is complete and several engagement sessions are scheduled, including an open training session and a home pre-season friendly, to ensure fans are comfortable and familiar with the new entry system ahead of the new campaign. Your 2023-24 season ticket will be dispatched by email and this will include a ‘download ticket’ link, which you must open on your smartphone to ensure it can be added to your Apple Wallet or Google Pay. Emails will be sent to the assigned owners of each season ticket, so if you have assigned season tickets to friends and family members, please ensure their email addresses are also up to date. If you do not have a smartphone, you can forward the email containing your digital ticket to a friend or family member that you are attending with - and they can download the ticket onto their smartphone for you to use when accessing the stadium. If this option is not available to you and you do not have access to a smartphone, please contact [email protected] with the subject header ‘No smart device’ and include their customer number. A member of our ticketing team will be in touch ahead of the new season to discuss a possible alternative. For additional information about digital ticketing, please visit our FAQs by clicking here. Let's hope it works without too many problems, there should be other clubs to learn from so there should be no bother really. But IMO, it feels like someone is spending lot of trouble and money on an automatic bottle opener, which won't open the bottle any quicker, and might break without allowing you to just do it yourself.
Well i have had a reply from Digital Support which states that the 20 people out of over 200 members who cant access digital tickets should reconsider. STILL no solution given apart from to reconsider. Its an absolute disgrace
