Stupid friendly to have to play after relegation but we had an obligation to fulfill and now it's been done.

Tells us nothing other than PL clubs are better than us which we already knew.

 

But we recruited for the future under orta. Should have players ready but they are not.

 

Only saw the 1st half but Rutter, Klaessen, Drameh, Gyabi all looked decent enough.

Add in Sinisterra and Cooper from the older players and we were'nt that bad.

What happened second half ?

 

Really? Didn’t our young lads get a bashing from grown men in league 1 & 2 clubs in that cup.

Same as all the other PL clubs who entered U21 teams in that competition.

Probably a useful exercise but not of any importance in the grand scheme of things.

 

Farkes already referring to the loan mess and the problems it’s causing. All thanks to previous regime.

 

We're you expecting to sell our under performing players for a profit ?

Generally most players lose value over the course of their contract and many leave for free at the end of them.

Leicester payed £40M for Tielemans 4 years ago and he's just walked because that's just how it is.

 

Were writing their values off completely and most of them are a year into their contracts, not at end. 104m still due on repayments for players were getting nothing for. Three more seasons to clear that. There's always the hope the 49ers will clear it of course

 

I agree. I don't know why Phil Hay is normalising it.

 

We're suspending our obligation to pay a year of their wages for a fee.

True but still very high wages to keep all the players from a squad that saw us relegated.

Some have/had to go and they have.

 

Well it is if you’re suggesting that these are the bulk of the players you want to use to gain promotion.

 

As at every club some might make it and then go on to have stellar careers and if they do then no one remembers how they did in the U21's away at Tranmere or wherever.

We'll find out soon enough but we definitely need 4 or 5 to help fill the squad for this season...it is what it is.

 

Plus all the fees quoted won't be the correct figure, as most transfers now have add ons, which are included in the figure given, I'd imagine few if any will have been met
