That’s not really accurate as Kalas and Wilson weren’t used at all last season, HNM had very little use, both Kalas (injury), and HNM (loan) , and possibly Wilson (still recovering from injury), weren’t available at the end of last season when we were so short of players . So Dickie , McCrorie, and Knight are 3 quality additions to our squad compared to the end of last season. We also Roberts, so that’s 4 more than we had towards the end of last season.
Good point, although I think the point of the original post was, that if we get 2 or 3 injuries, as we did to the players you mention, we aren’t any stronger in depth?
Transition is over, we have progressed squadwise, we have the quality and experience, now comes the ambition, this has got to be the season we break through, top six should be a target and obtainable, top half minimum , anything below would be a failure and not acceptable, dare I say back down to where we started.
I'm sure Nige won't want to settle for mid table, but we have to be realistic. Unless we're fighting a relegation battle from the end of August we have to accept we are still a small fish is quite a big pond and we will need to scrap hard for every point. Yes you can point at Luton and what they achieved last year, but they are the exception not the norm, and there will be an awful lot of the 24 teams in the Championship with their eyes on a top 6 finish. We have to aspire at least to be one of them.
Not sure what you mean by back to where we started? I assume you mean the disaster half season of Dean Holden (despite a golden start) before NP took over. Prior to that we were pretty much top 10 for 2-3 seasons.
No mate, I will not engage with the LJ debate we are too far apart, you think he was great, I think he was absolute crap,we've moved on, season 2023/24 is upon us and alot of what you have expressed regarding this season I agree with and that's where I stand, it's the team of today that counts for me, I'm all for them and I'm hoping for what all of us wish that's a bloody successful season.
It’s not about individuals, it’s a team game, look at Luton for example and Millwall over the years, towards the end of last season we were starting to really play as a team, if we continue in that vein with the additions we have I think we have as good a chance as anyone in the league
We have 2 players for every position now , that allows for injuries, apart from keeper and maybe DC till Atkinson returns, but we have plenty of cover there as well, as many double up , ie Pring can play CB and we have cover for LB now .
Ooh Supcon - you still don’t get it do you. Successive top 10 finishes for LJ was a FAILURE One top 10 finish for Nige after 3 seasons is SUCCESS Write out the above 100 times until you remember it. (Must try harder)

If we do, you can here the chorus on here now of, it’s all NP - which it should be, of course if we don’t, well you know how that goes…
Kalas is no longer on our books, the other two may not have been his purchases but they’re part of his team now. Kalas would be too had he chose to accept the new contract offer.
Whoever is on our books doesn't count in the you had better succeed this season Nigel stakes. He has had enough time to sort out the riffraff from the squad and now he must produce or pay the cost and he knows that fact I'm sure. How many more five year rebuilding plans must we accept before we say enough is not enough, because we are still waiting to get to that distant finishing line that our boss keeps dangling before our eyes?
Any manager is judged by results, however they have to be realistic. NP took over when we were in a pickle, therefore his objectives so far have been to sort out the mess and finish firstly above the drop zone, (in his first season), and then mid table (second season) , both these objectives were met, so far so good, he hasn’t exceeded his objectives, but he’s accomplished them. Now , this season his objective will be higher. My view is he needs to be around the playoffs and must finish minimum top 10, ideally top 6 and if we manage top 6, our objective must be reset, no good going into playoffs thinking we’ve done well to reach them, our objective at that point must be to set out to win promotion.
