For me, its the fear of the unknown. If Joseph, Gelhardt, Gyabi, Drameh and Perkins can show their worth, we could romp home, but I genuinely believe that our squad of last season would have struggled in the Championship - we were that bad. It reminded me of the first game of the 19/20 season when we ripped apart Stoke. The expectation was because they were going to be too strong for the Championship, and had a lot of big names. In truth, they were lucky to stay in the Championship.
Morning all I knew all this departures were coming but I'm getting more and more worried about the start of the season. We need to sign players. Making line ups on if but and maybes isn't really good enough as they could be gone in the next 4 weeks.
I remember reading last season that there was a clause in some contracts that if Leeds were relegated the wages of some players would drop by half, so this loan agreement might had been part of the trade off for the player to sign in the first place?
If anyone thinks Gelhardt is a proven striker at championship level i would refer them to Sunderland. He scored very few and they have not or indeed any club rushed to sign him. Perkins is another i do not rate. Joseph may do well as he is faster than Gelhardt but who isn't. Gnonto and Meslier will jump ship very soon i reckon.
The reason we can't sell anyone is because the loaned out ones are shyte. After watching us last season would you buy any of them. Adams/gnonto/harrison/sinnistera will fetch decent money. Firpo we may get a bag of crisps for.
The Saudis have put an offer in for Mitrovic who only has a year left on his contract but is still valued at £30m. Why cant they come for Bamford who has a long contract and give us £15m and he can fook off with his family to the sun and riches of the desert state
The Nat Phillips rumours look to be gathering pace. If we sign him would that be enough at CB? I'd be happy with any of Wober, Phillips or Cresswell being starters. Cooper would be adequate cover. That leaves Struijk and Monteiro as last resort / youth prospect. I wouldn't be against selling Struijk or loaning out Monteiro but not both. There's Hjelde too but if he stays he'd be more likely to get a game at LB.
Perkins is excellent imo. Whether he’s ready for the rigours of Championship football is another matter though.
Because Barnes came through the Youth Ranks at Leicester and Maddison came in from Norwich, moving up a division in the process. I would wager neither has loan options in their contracts otherwise the "buying teams" would activate them - no clause = nothing to activate so down to price negotiations that buying and selling clubs agree on. Big difference that Doc
If by some chance Leeds get promoted this season, does that mean all these loanees (that got us relegated) will want to come back and play in the PL? They can fcuk right off!
The West Ham fans loved him when he played for the first team and remember he even scored on his debut for our first team. I think he can do it but obviously in a managed way
