This is the transfer rumours thread so the latest rumour on another city board is that the Ramsey deal is done. Make of that what you will but I won’t take any notice of anything said until I get a text message from the official site!
I'd heard that in passing over the weekend and it wasn't from "our leader's" site either. I dismissed it as wannabe speculation at the time but maybe there was some substance to it. It's been on for some time with agreement reached between the club and Rambo but Nice still had certain options open to them which had to be sorted - hopefully that's now done and he's on board before they all go to Portugal.
Just started a pre-season thread. Hopefully sparkey will wave his magic wand and get the appropriate posts moved.
Looks like what I heard over last weekend was just about on the money................. https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/nice-expect-aaron-ramsey-report-27303585
Another bloody French club (though British owned). Lets hope Willy McKay and a dodgy plane aren't involved.
Read that this morning. It all seems a bit muddled though it should be quite clear. He's triggered an option through the games he's played. If the option is in Nice's favour and they're expecting him in pre-season next week then he's not an option for us. If that's the case he should just come out and say it. The implication being that he is with Nice for another year and we won't be getting him for free now. Ergo, we wont be getting him now.
I think it's an option that Nice have at their discretion, not necessarily decidng to take it up. I'd have thought his contractual wages would be set at the high level he was on previously and they might find that excessive for another year. I can see some gamesmanship in play here on their part. Maybe they want a fee that we can't pay right now but can in January - an interim loan would suit them.
There seems to be a game afoot, I'm just not clever enough to fathom it. Whatever he was on at Nice I doubt we could match it. Even in a loan situation we'd need a discounted wage. So til January, they'd be out of pocket subsidising his loan. Say there's a 20k funding gap for 25 weeks, thats £500k. We'd need to stump up a couple million to make it worth while. Is there a game of chicken going on? Also, if his contract ran out at the end of June, surely they'd have needed to to exercise the option to provide continuity of employment. They couldn't hold off for a month without him being paid. So either they've exercised the option and he's theirs, or they haven't and he's a free agent. Unless there's something even more convoluted in the option clause. Or Ramsey is after a better offer. So why then would Nice play along?
He can`t say he wants to be in Cardiff with his family and jet off to Saudi plus if he had to wait on an option from Nice he would have stated that. Unless he signs for Cardiff after all this time he will end up just like Bale. Cardiff gave him the chance to go to Arsenal it is now payback time. .
