Morning All, A cloudy start in rural France, but the promise of sun later in the morning. I persuaded Mme to go to the top level of the Eiffel Tower a couple of years ago and despite her dislike of heights when she arrived she felt perfectly safe and couldn't believe what a fantastic view you get of the whole city.

So this site crashed again last night. Why do they keep getting problems? All beyond me I am afraid.

I will have some coffee, then will make up my mind what to do today. There are a whole list of things that need doing before winter arrives, all of them seem equally important. Will think about them, then do something else probably. ;)

Morning all - Turning out to be a fine morning in West West London with the sun poking through the clouds. I get the feeling that we are in a lot of "lulls before the storms"....very quiet on a lot of fronts...

Morning all, had no reception in Somerset so have lots of catching up to do. Can someone please give me a brief summary of how bad its got in the club since Thursday?

Now to give you all the summary of my long weekend away.......

Lovely journey to a small village called Waterrow in Somerset on Friday, followed by heavy drinking and a dip in the hot tub that night. The drama's began on Saturday during our day out to take my daughter to her first riding lesson. She loved the whole thing and has been told her posture is perfect for horse riding (sounds like it could be an expensive hobby for my wallet!!)

Some other family members came with us and as my sister-in-law was unloading the pushchair from her car she closed the boot. Only to realise that the keys were lodged in the boot frame and had activated the central locking. Normally this would have been amusing, until we realised that her 1 year old daughter was still in the car!!!! <yikes> Luckily the RAC came to the rescue and she was freed in an hour. Also she had fallen asleep during the journey and only woke up when the door was opened and the alarm went off.

All went well until Sunday when leaving the pub my car decide to go bang!! Couldn't see anything so managed to drive it the remaining 1/2 mile back to the house we were staying. RAC called again and found that nut holding the shock absorber had come loose and the whole thing had dropped out of place. Towed to a garage in Minehead the next morning and then told that no part available in the area <doh>. Car now loaded back on a lorry and drive all the way back to Sandy where ceremoniously dumped at the local garage. We were given a hire car and made the long journey back ourselves.

Am now back at work, feeling knackered and light of wallet. I could really do with a holiday to get over my holiday!!!!

Mornin all. After an eerie start to the day its turned out to be pretty nice, albeit chilly. However, you will hear no complaints from me if it stays like this till Spring.

Ak, the bar mitzvah a coming of age ceremony for the males, bar mitzvah is for females and b'nai mitzvah is a collective plural for either males or both, b'not mitzvah is the plural femine form. Even bar mitzah is quite new in its use, seven to eight hundred years, the expressions "bar 'onshin" or "gadol" were used earlier (they translate roughly as legally responsible and adult respectively). Bar or bat mizvah can be translated as son or daughter of the covenant respectively.

I do love what you can learn on here. ;)

Sorry to read about your car troubles Sandy. Knacked suspension sounds rather like Vettal after he failed to get back to the pits Sunday in one piece.

Funnily enough Frenchie, I did drive past a convoy of 6 Red Bull lorries on the M4 yesterday. Not sure if they were part of the F1 team or one of the other sports they sponsor?

Turning into a beautiful afternoon in West West London - light blue sky with just a few fluffy clouds. Isn't it strange that because a garage has not got 1 nut, a car has to be towed half way across the country - a few years ago that garage would have had boxes of old nuts and bolts and would have found one that would have fitted. My old Dad had biscuit & sweet tins full of old stuff like that in his shed and my mum had a big box of spare buttons...in the days of only having Listen With Mother, I used to spend hours going through those buttons trying to match them up...

I see that Sea France has suspended all sailings for the next 48 hours while they wait to see if they can get a legal bail out from the French government. I have used them in the past and still get e-mails telling me how cheap their prices are, but when you go to try and book one of these give-aways they are never available at the times you wish to cross the channel. They have been in trouble for sometime, but I think that this advertising method drives people away, simply because in the end you stop looking.

It is a bit like Ryanair and their cheap flights. Trying to work out a good economic journey with them is never easy. As an example, yesterday I found that I could fly from Limoges to East Midlands in December for £6 including all taxes, but to fly back again would cost £70. I will use a ferry.

Good grief Sandy, what a palaver! Glad you're home and back at work, routine sounds just the ticket for you right now! lol...hope it all gets fixed and feeling better soon!

Thanks Zen, sorry, i didn't see your post when i posted mine. That's all absolutely correct, though 'gadol' literally means 'big'...the word for 'adult' is 'boger' i believe. :)
