Good Morning. It's Tuesday 11th July, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road Everton on the verge of tying up Gnonto deal Multiple media reports are suggesting that Everton are on the verge to tying up the £18m signature of Leeds winger Wilfred Gnonto. Although bought for the bargain price of only £4m, the mark-up seems incredibly low for a player of his talent. There's not many times in Leeds recent history, that they get a chance to make a decent profit on their talent, so when they do, they should take full advantage. For someone so young, he brings a lot of maturity to his game. At only 19yo, he already has 11 senior International caps to his name (for Italy). He has great close ball control, reads the game well, creates chances and never gives the ball away cheaply. He is contracted to Elland Road until 2027, and is one of only a few players (along with Harrison) not to have a loan clause in their contract. If Leeds were happy to shell out £35m for the potential of what Rutter can bring to the party, why can't they at least get the same for Gnonto? please log in to view this image Liverpool knock back Phillips loan request Liverpool have told Leeds that Nat Phillips is available for transfer, but only on a permanent transfer. The out of favour centre-back, only played twice last season, and the Reds are keen to free up space to bring new talent to Anfield this Summer. Despite Daniel Farke's close relationship with Jurgen Klopp, Leeds were knocked back when trying to secure a season long loan for the 26yo, and will need to stump up £7m - £10m if they want their man. Leeds see Phillips as the ideal replacement for Robin Koch, who joined Eintracht Frankfurt last week. please log in to view this image It could be a whitewash Leeds kick off their pre-season tomorrow when they face Manchester Utd at the Ullevaal Stadium in Oslo. To say Leeds aren't ready is an understatement. Willy Gnonto, Crysencio Summerville, Illan Meslier and Rodrigo are not scheduled back until next week, and with Koch, Arronson and Llorente having departed on loan, the Whites could face a whitewash. To make matters worse, Marc Roca is expected to secure his loan move to Real Betis in the next 24 hours, with the La Liga outfit having an option to make the move permanent subject to a £10.2m fee. please log in to view this image
Morning all Gnonto has a huge sell on fee according to the FC Zurich president. He said; “The first part was cash. The second part is a fairly sizeable stake in an onward transfer." It is not yet clear what the figure is with regards to the clause, but Canepa then went on to confirm the percentage can be considered to be "exceptionally high". In todays market, £18m is cheap for a player of Gnonto’s quality and age, who would you prefer to keep, Harrison or Gnonto. With the sell on fee for Willy taken into account, Harrison would fetch far more if his reported £17m release fee is activated Average decent sell on fees are around 20% yet Zurich claim there one is exceptionally high, guess work but maybe 30% or higher? Agent fees on top, £18m could be closer to £10m yet we’re thinking of spending that on Nat Phillips
Not sure I believe that figure. If we are selling at that price it’s worthwhile for clubs far better than Everton to take a punt on him.
I don't see why we'd sell Willy for that with so long left on his contract and I doubt he is on massive wages considering he wasn't even meant to be part of the first team at the point he was brought in. I haven't been looking forward to tomorrows friendly with hardly any players available but it might give us an idea which youth players are considered ready. Hopefully either Joseph or Perkins start up front with possibly Rutter and James playing wide. We'll surely see some of Gyabi, Drameh, Gray and Bate too. Let's just hope by the time we play the other friendlies we have something resembling more of a first team.
Why would we deal with a club we said shafted us for £100m by their underhand dealings. Really want them to go down next season.
Gnoto is a strange one. Looked a world beater for a few games and then didn’t look great for a load more and wasn’t being picked. Is this another case of thinking someone is better than they are? Another Jack Clarke? Could it be we actually sell at 18-22m and look back at being ripped off or that we’ve got someone’s pants down? I think out of Gnoto, Harrison and Sinisterra you’ve got to think 2/3 or even all 3 will be going. To keep any of those in the championship would be good but Harrison is most experienced and most injury free so potentially the best one to keep. Sini obviously most talented but injury ridden and Gnoto has potential but he’s living off that atm.
I think James will feature, Summerville the most likely to have head his head turned leaving Sinisterra, Gnonto and Jack My choice would be James, Sinisterra, Summerville sacrifice Gnonto and Jack. Gnonto I’d sell cheap and put in our own huge sell on fee Wages and contract length and seemingly no release fee attached, Gnonto would be the easiest to keep. I think we’ll refrain from selling until the others have committed or not
The lack of any statements from the club is frankly bizarre. Is there a squad list for Norway stating who we have taken?. If some players have opted to stay then why not say who they are. All the club are doing is selling more useless memberships and trying to sell some krap training wear in strange colours. Will the game be on lutv or on you tube?. I am totally underwhelmed by this pre season.
Me neither not at that price. Also from memory it usually goes wrong anyway.not going to be a proper game anyway these games never are.
