Fast forward 40 and a bit years, some guys recently demobbed trained as radio operators with Marconi. Who in turn supplied them to trawler owners. In time they were directly employed. One of them had to silently wish a painful death on the incompetent who was trying to reattach a tow line to a trawler. The one his son was on. Ps the tight git never did buy me a beer out of his salvage money.
Which brings us back to my point, how did they know it was 5 to 1 so they could watch the ball drop at 1 and synchronise watches.
Made me smile this morning. Council have installed black/yellow wheel stop kerbs in Goddard Ave to prevent folk parking on the pavement. One resident, who called the idea ridiculous, said 'I know they are big and yellow- so quite easy to see - but I have seen three people trip over them now, if you're waving at someone across the road and walk backwards, you could easily fall over it'. Calls for a song...
Looks like golden balls timing has gone to ****, dropped today with the guildhall clock showing 5 past 1.
There's a planning application in for a 116 room hotel with restaurant, conferencing hall, and car parking on the site of the old New York hotel on Anlaby Road. Best of luck, yet again. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
Or have a look at the long list of achievements the company behind it has, and the shorter list, very short, of directors of said company. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
Have you got details of the plans? I think the council already approved something similar about four years ago, then it all went quiet.
No details, there's a planning notice in today's HDM. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
Not sure if it's been mentioned anywhere, but The Good Food Guide 2023's Britain's Best 100 Local Restaurants has been published and 2 are from Hull! (Norwich only has the 1) They are: The Hispanist - Paragon Arcade & Hearth - Trinity Square
I'd be shocked if they didn't have at least two to provide time information for all those boats heading out on the Broads.
