What’s changed things in my view is social media, in fairness MP’s have to put up with a heck of a lot of abuse on Twitter and facebook etc, some of it is pretty vile. We’ve become a very angry nation.
I don’t do social media so can’t comment on that part, but to me, the whole world seems divided on many many topics
I think that's very true. To be fair, I am extremely grateful for the fact that years ago when I was saying and doing stupid things it wasn't possible back then for a random person to capture those moments of madness on a mobile phone and share it across the Interweb for all to see. The difference is that the politicians set themselves up as bastions of respectability and people cast their votes based upon things they say, promise and do - whereas I'm just an ordinary person trying (sometimes clumsily) to get on with my life!
I don’t do social media either, but all MP’s say how bad it is, how they have to put up often with even death threats. The women in particular have the deal with all sorts of abuse. Plus of course two MP’s have been killed in recent years, so the threats have to be taken seriously. No one deserves that kind of abuse however bad they are at their job.
Indeed I forgot to add that the country and wider world is also full of mentally unstable and unpredictable people
Improved? I’d like to think that I engage my 56 year old brain these days before saying or doing something - particularly where employment or friends and relatives are concerned! Improved - I’d say yes. Error and gaffe free - not totally!! Edit: I shoot from the hip on this board though!!!!!
