Oscar looked every bit an 8 figure centre forward the other evening... strikers are a premium, he scores from in and out of the 6 yard box..
3.5m for Simms I thought? Add-ons take it to 5 then promotion takes it to 8. I'd expect twice that for Oscar.
Lots of talk and what I'd class as people expressing interest, but as far as I know, no official bids yet
Just noticed, we're gonna have to tie Adama and Tetteh down to a new contract before Xmas if we want them sticking around or they will be able to speak to foreign clubs in January. We do have the option on both, but given their quality I reckon there'll be clubs watching them from the off.
Agreed, on the basis that Greaves is worth more in the market than he is to us right now with the other players we have available. But if the fee received isn't as high as hoped, then it becomes very different.
For me it just boils down to its much easier to replace a solid champ CB then it is to find a replacement for a 15+ goals a season championship striker ( that doesn't cost a fortune )
Thats a conundrum.... I'm sure Macca has been scouted very bit as much as JG.... Those closer to the club on here will know...
There were loads looking at him towards the end of the season. They gave him a contract for a reason.
I'd say from the two friendlies so far there's still a lot of work to be done this window. Goalkeeper a must If Greaves goes we probably need cover at both CB and LB (Are Fleming or Leake good enough?) Probably a CM short 2 wingers a priority (Stop wasting Tetteh out wide) I'd try and move Docherty and Longman on. Keep Woods as a Seri backup.
Aah, that makes more sense. I guess Rovers played today. Thought Vern was talking about our friendly.
I watched the friendly and it was crap. The style of play is slow and very predictable. Certainly not edge of your seat stuff.
Not sure, I tend to lean forwards on the edge of my seat and lean on the seat in front when I’m having a nap.
And there is a very interesting point that seems to be being overlooked. The fact that Greaves is effectively like having two, or even three players because of his versatility. Not only is he a very capable CB and LB at this level, when he plays in the latter position he has the potential ability to play the inverted role, if Rosie chooses to deploy him there in certain games or certain parts of them. I can see what is being said about Oscar but I think the same can be said for Greaves, in that the fee needs to be considerable for it to be a good deal for us, as we’d need at least two replacements if he goes.
