I wouldn't be impressed if we signed a 19 year old turkish kid who's just been relegated from the German second division, no offence he might be brilliant, but I think Acun has learnt from his mistakes last year
-3 Utterly negative experience, only identified 11 positions that LR needs to strengthen. In the first half, they fielded reserves, trialists and a smattering of tramps who sleep rough near the stadium. In the second, their under 8 reserve side held us comfortably.
A tale of 2 games! Leake looked promising today, but looked lost against Gala. As OLM said, Fleming seems to have gone backwards ... massively. Disappointing to see. Longman and Allayhar promise at times, but rarely deliver. Seems the quality just isn't there with either of them (unfortunately particularly so with Allahyar) Oscar looked a world beater v's Gala, but did next to nothing today. Surprisingly, Woods looked quality today. As always, so tidy on the ball. Seri back up I guess. Tetteh out wide is a waste. Tim. Speechless. Ship him out. (might sounds harsh but a liability for now) We seriously lack pace and creativity, and I'd still add 'presence / physicality' in CDM; Simons might be the answer in the future but not yet. Vinagre will hopefully add some pace, but we need a couple more. Reckon we are minimum 4 short still if we want to challenge: - Vinagre - a keeper at least as good, but preferably better than Ingram. - at least one winger with real pace (and end product). - a CDM with physicality Still no idea what Rosenior meant when he said we'd have a way of playing that nobody is doing.
Jake Leake was supposed to follow Callum Jones to Forest Green, Rosie said no. Can see why after tonight, the pass to Jarvis was the best of the game.
He had a bit of a mare against Gala but looked very good tonight. That spell at Scunny has definitely helped him. I was surprised we didn't see Matty Jacob though after him signing a new deal
He’s injured atm, was meant to start against Gala. Leake certainly wasn’t helped by Lo-Tutala and Doc in that game. He looked a lot more accomplished today
I wondered what happened to Jacob, I’ve only seen him in one cup game and that’s obviously not much to go on, but he was excellent in that game.
****ing hell, some of the reactionary stuff here is ridiculous. A young keeper, playing in the first team for only the second time makes a few mistakes and gets his ability questioned, ignoring the saves he made against Galatasaray. I said a few weeks back that he wasn't ready for the first team and I stand by that, he's a very promising young keeper who will only get better but he needs to be playing out on loan at his age and playing second fiddle to Matt Ingram won't help that development. The discussion at the time surrounded why we should bother signing keepers when we have young lads waiting in the wings. Well, that's why. Because plonking a 20 year old whose most recent match experience is playing in front of 4,000 people at Barrow for Stevenage in League Two into a game against the Turkish champions in front of 20,000 odd fans and then a mid table Super Lig club (dunno how many there were in Bursa tonight, didn't look as many) will probably result in a bit of nerves. We need another senior keeper, pretty sure that'll happen in the coming weeks as we've been trying to get one anyway. For context, while Hatayspor aren't anywhere near as good as Galatasaray, they're still a team with quality and I thought we played better in parts tonight (and the other night) than anything I saw last season, which shows real improvement. Even after what has to be the most gruelling pre season we've had, nobody looked tired, everybody was pressing and doing their jobs. Longman looked a bit rusty, but he's never been consistent and he's only 22 himself, another that will get better during his time here. Woods has been really good these last two games, if he keeps that up he'll have no trouble getting a move. He might even change the manager's mind, apparently he's been training "like an animal".
Woods always looks good in games where the pace is slow and he's not being pressed and he did have quite a few half decent games/cameos last season too
I think he's stuck in a sort of twilight zone, between being good enough for the first team and needing to go out on loan. If we get Sinik firing and another winger in, he could well go out.
He went there when they played at Bundesliga At that time Leicester City also wanted him but he chose A.Bielefeld because he thought he can get more game time there He choose wrong team for his career but still there is huge potential in him
