I heard the trip was booked just for the football but someone got the dates wrong. So it wasn't just a holiday jolly. I know a couple of lads who flew out of Gatwick on Monday thinking they were meeting up with these lads before the Galtasaray game. Fair play to them all for showing the colours and supporting the team. i wish I was with them.
the main reason we stopped shipping so many goals was because Rosie stopped playing Greaves and Figs at the back and brought in Macca and Jones. nothing to do with systems or tactics
Can't be right to say "nothing to do with systems or tactics"! Probably the personnel change was the major reason, but without a doubt, Rosenior also got them more organised, gave clearer instructions, coached them better, etc.
Don’t think that a large group of people, some of who might not know each other all decided to go on a holiday jolly at the same time to Istanbul just when City were playing and popped round the corner to the game. All of them with City flags and gear. Obvious they went for the football. And good on ‘em.
Lets be honest we got lucky since it was a friendly got out played and roseniors play out from the back tactics wernt working if it was a real game galatasaray would of locked up on defence after 3-0 and it would be game over
If it was a real game against Galtasaray we would have had to have been promoted to the PL, finished in the top 4, and have waited for Galtasaray to finish serving their ban from playing in the Champions League. Or maybe neither been quite as good and met in the Europa League instead. Either way I reckon to achieve one of those we'd have brought in at least a couple of players so things might have been slightly different anyway...
lots of people in UK go on holiday to Turkey maybe they werent staying just round the corner but I wouldnt be surprised if they booked a holiday around the City matches or were on holiday in Turkey and will go to the matches while they are there they will have known about the matches before setting off from UK and took along flags and 'gear' ready for the matches it wouldnt have been a last minute decision while in Turkey it's not the same as going to see City play at Ipswich
If it was a 'real game' we might have fielded our full strength team too, instead of blooding youngsters. Let's be honest.
Make your mind up. Did they plan to go to Istanbul to watch City or did they just all happen to book a holiday there and then found out City were playing and took their City gear? And the stadium was over an hour’s drive away from Istanbul.
my mind is made up some would have been on holiday in Turkey but they would have known City were playing before setting off on holiday some would have decided to have a holiday in Turkey once the matches were arranged in both of the above they would have taken their City gear because they knew the matches were being played before they set off on holiday I doubt anybody would just go to Istanbul and then go straight back what are the other possibilities other than those three? people who are residents in Turkey? wherever they were staying in Turkey they would have gone to the match whether the stadium was an hour's drive from Istanbul or a minute's drive the stadium is in Istanbul in the Sariyer district. it's not an hour's drive from Istanbul https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sarıyer
But you are wrong Pete. Someone took responsibilty and organised the trip when City announced they were going to Turkey but they cocked up on the dates. They could have cancelled but they still went. And for the record these lads and plenty more would have been at Ipswich if we were playing there instead. How often do you come up to Hull for a game these days?
I'm wrong? I said: "some would have decided to have a holiday in Turkey once the matches were arranged" are you saying that the people just went to see City and not have a holiday while there? it might be a short holiday but it would still be a holiday I dont doubt they would go to Ipswich but they certainly wouldnt have a holiday around that fixture I dont come to Hull for games these days. I limit myself to the South East of England now although I used to go all over to watch City. can you explain the relevance of that to the discussion?
I can only explain that these lads organised this trip to watch Hull City in Turkey, something you are disputing. I know you limit yourself to the South East and I remember you as a teenager on Bunkers Hill when you lived in Hull, and was probably on the one coach with you we ran to away games in thsoe days. I was actually sat behind you at QPR last season. For me any City fan who ventures away to support the club these days has my admiration, you too for continuing to support the club after all these years. Don't knock 'em Pete, I wish we had more like them, and if they treat it as a holiday then good luck to them but the reason they are there is because City are there.
The landlord from Botanic with info from Acun organised a 50 person trip, coach, flight and hotel to watch 2 City games in Istanbul, one was brought forward so they missed it, I was asked to go along with another couple of posters I know on here, but stupidly declined, £400 all in, bargain.
I've never been to Istanbul, but it comes across as an interesting place to visit...I'll have to go one day. Which reminds me of a joke... Two scousers go to Rome to watch Liverpool play. One says.... 'Eh our Terry ..If we get split up, me great mate, I'll sees you in the Vatican ...' Terry says...'Tell you what Baz, me great mate. If we get split up I'll meet yous in the Vatican.' Terry looks suddenly a bit confused, 'but just a minute,' he says. 'What's that?' asks Baz. 'Is that the bar or the lounge?' Terry enquires.
Galatasaray's real squad will be like this with the new transfers Muslera-Boey-Nelsson-Abdülkerim-Angelino- Torreira-Paredes-Rashica-Zaniolo-Kerem-İcardi There is a huge difference. At first half Gala' B/C team made 3-0 without pushing hard. Second half Gala played with u-19 kids ıts look like misslead City fans.
