I’m sure Dave will be doing this for the real games, but just in case he’s on holiday…..the season starts here happy campers. Kick off 16:00 I think Venue Raiffeisen Arena Linz Austria which looks good. Slavia finished second in the Czech first division and qualified for the European Conference League. Played for both: Reg Hlavacek, 1899-1902, QPR, 1905-08 Slavia Prague. Kilburn born winger of Irish/Czech heritage. Gareth’s comments*: “We’re raring to go. I’ve got the neck braces ready for the midfield, if we bother with a midfield, and we are looking forward to this test against top quality opposition. We’ll either be playing three or four at the back….possibly five. Nailed on for a big’un and a little’un up top though. We’ll learn a lot, the result isn’t important, a good outcome will be to have only 2 season ending injuries. This schnitzel’s lovely” *estimated.
What is the general expectation from these games? A sense of strategy? Gelling? Avoid getting smashed? For sure a continuation of last season's tactics but with a younger and less experienced squad I just hope to avoid relegation next season
**** knows. I’m assuming this would have been organised way before Ainsworth was appointed, might not be his choice at all. Now we’ll all be looking at Archer, or whoever is in goal…..
Great to see the youngsters given the opportunity to play. Good opportunity to impress for them. Be interesting to see the second half 11.
Pedder interests me a lot. Got rave reviews last season in the B or u21 or development team or whatever it is called
He's the one who's always looked most lively in the highlights I've seen. Be nice for at least one young un to surprise us.
So it seems Slavia Prague are actually a good team and their 3rd pre season match. Maybe 2 nil isn't that bad
