They may say that but they won't believe it. The optics are too strong to ignore. They will just be on the gravy train until it stops

Are they not still on the gravy train after it stops, what changes apart from not being in power?

Absolute rubbish, and the evidence is in this thread. You put people on ignore for even the slightest hint of disagreement.

If you can't let your opinion be put under scrutiny, it's worthless.

Mercer isn't a fool, although his behaviour recently is foolish. Looks to me like he's positioning himself for the leadership race that is likely to take place after the next GE.

This is why our PM is the invisible man, you can't defend the indefensible and their defences are crumbling.

They managed, for a while, by trotting out the endless no 'parties/world class Covid response/got Brexit done' rhetoric but that's all gradually falling apart as people realise it's not what they were led to believe.

They have nothing left and Sunak's response is to hide in a fridge so he can avoid awkward questions, leaving other people to take the flak

After thirteen years you'd hope for some progress ...

    ... realistically, there's none.

The Tories are the Stewart Donald and Charlie Methven of politics. <laugh>

Perhaps we should kidnap Sunak's daughters ...

... that might get rid of him <laugh>

Yeah he has been quiet of late. Probably hiding after this week's horror show that started at the privileges committee. Got his arse handed to him there.

It's not just that, as you know.

While they're in power contracts can be awarded, influence applied and wheels greased.

Power is what they want, sadly quite often the power to improve their own lives, not ours.

Most embarrassing performance I have seen from any politician in a good while and I thought he was a decent bloke from his work with Veterans

And to think some people insisted Boris was just pretending to be a bumbling fool <laugh>

Now we're not reading anything but the headline, on top of being incapable of doing research.

It's the expansion that's being opposed, not the original.

Speaking of which, Khan was happy to get up at a meeting and lump perfectly legitimate opponents of the scheme in with COVID deniers, anti-vaxxers and racists. We were just waiting on a mention of Trump for a full house.

It seemed like that, but if you use Twitter him and his wife have had a spat going on all week with Carole Vorderman and Brian Moore, that's been very entertaining

Pointless engaging with Vorderman. She's crackers. From being good at adding up to turning into Tits McGhee The Attention Seeker. Puddle deep knowledge of politics, as you can tell by her puddle deep hot takes that even some on here would be embarrassed with.

They are quite well matched then, because Mercer is as thick as a castle wall and would be out of his depth in a car park puddle <ok>

She is making some good points, perhaps that is why Mercer is rattled.

Yes. Good on veteran's stuff, because he's got the experience. Everything else, not so much.
