Had a look at his stats, just played nearly a full season with the team that finished 5th in Ligue 1. Compared to Jonny Evans who is 5 years younger but has had major injury issues. Worth a punt for a season in a Championship side that suffers from a major lack of experience.
He's never relied on his pace but rather a good reading of the game and he makes his partner better. Players have played in their 40s before it just depends on how they look after their body and if this is a way to get him back at the club in a coaching role then it's a win win. His countryman, Pepe is still captain for Porto at 40 for example.
