After seeing one of the most woeful individual performances I've seen in a while, I was just wondering whether you guys reckon his signing was a 'favour from a mate'? Obviously Euell and Powell go back a bit, but surely he's past going on Sunday's performance.

Good luck for the rest of the season by the way, really hope you get promoted. No significantly established club deserved to be pitted with the likes of Stevenage.

I don't think so - He had a successful spell at Donny in the league above at the end of last season. It goes to show what a run of games can do for you.

I too think he and Hayes was a recipe for disaster. They both need a BWP up top if they play as a striker in a 4-4-2.

Have to agree with Cheese. Jase was below par yesterday, didn't win any 50/50's & looked off the pace but then could argue it may be down to lack of games...

I agree with Super its mostly down to a lack of games and a poor pairing up front (He and Hayes wont work well together), I thought he improved in the second half and would like to see a few reserve team friendlies organised in the near future (I know we have the Kent cup game) so that he (and the others who need match practice) can make sure he's sharp if he's needed. I still think he's a positive influence around the squad and a useful squad player for the season (if not first team material)

I think he was brought in for stability primarily and to be an 'old head' amongst what's a pretty young squad. I think in his own mind there was also an element of unfinished business here, sadly I think he may be a couple of seasons past achieving this. However, the lack of games could be a factor - he never stopped running on Sunday, but the timing was off, as was the reading of the game.

This is ironic, because when he was training with us pre-season "just to maintain fitness", many posters were saying how great it would be if we could sign him "but of course we couldn't possibly afford his wages". By the time he did actually sign there wasn't a lot of excitement because we had signed a load of other promising players (more, and better, than we could have dreamed of).

CP believes in him and I believe in CP. Nil chance of signing him out of charity. Even if CP was that soft (and I don't think for one minute he is), the board would not have allowed it.

I think Euell is over-anxious to do well. Also, he and the coaches need to work out a role for him because he lacks the speed to play as a spearhead.

His ball control was very very poor, even the BSN defenders of Halifax were showing him up.

I remember when Teddy Sherringham was playing at 40, his legs had gone but his ball control and reading of the game kept him competative. Just can't see that in Jase, think it may be time for him to do his badges.

I think him and Andy hughes were signed as much for their presents around the club as what they can do on the pitch.

I don't think you can lose it over 1 summer- at his age you need to be playing, which he isn't. Still has something to offer.. On and off the pitch.

What's that then? Matt Holland was playing OK one season, then over the summer decided that he wasn't up to L1 and retired, perhaps L1 is not for Jase?

Holland was nothing to do with him not thinking he was good enough and then retiring. PP wanted him, but at a massive pay cut and telling him he still wasn't certain of a starting place because he was going to bring JJ and Racon through more. He then trained with us but soon received an invite from Colu where he trained for the rest of he summer but didn't secure a deal. I then think he had a trial at Bournemouth, but as this was when they were in a complete financial mess and they couldn't sign anyone. Then he retired.

Euell got 3 in 10 was it for donny? A lot of their fans attributed his arrival with them staying up. He isn't match sharp- at his age it takes longer for the legs to get going. I'd have complete faith in him if Hayes and kermo got injured.

Caly, not kneeejerk at all - Jase's sub appearances have been poor, was it a coincidence that it was his arrival on the pitch that prompted Preston's revival and two goals?

ahll, you go a lot more than me buddy so your more than entitled to your opinions.

i meant less of, he played cack so boot him out the club forthwith...its these reactions i would label kneejerk

id rather see pritchard/evina on the bench for league games...but i still happy for jase to collect his pennies if he is bringing his enthusiasm to the squad

I disagree about Hughes, since he came in the team we've won 5 on the spin (4 in the league), scoring shed loads of goals, that can't be a complete coincidence.

Euell isn't a striker any more, he didn't play up front in the last years of his first spell at Charlton, so playing up up front on Sunday was odd. I'd rather have played Waggy up there if Benson is completely out of the picture.

He's 4th choice. I doubt many(if any) clubs in this division have a better 4th choice striker.
