He’s in the last year of his big money contract. It’s probably easier to loan him and pay a set % of wages than to organise a pay off with Brighton and new deal with us etc
If he stays fit he’s got quality at this level and offers us something different with his runs in behind and winding up the opposition. Hopefully whatever was wrong is behind him now and he can have a full season.. I can’t imagine Rosenior would go through with it if he had any major concerns if we have a limited budget but we’ll see.
That would be a bit o- Oh you got me. I'm just surprised Brighton let us take him on loan and didn't insist on us paying them a fee up front. Such a strange concept to let a team try a player before buying them.
Because it's Acun talking. I'm amazed people put so much faith in the specifics of his words. He just likes to talk us up, especially when talking to a Turkish audience.
Delap out wide right. Seri and Slates in the middle, Traore in there somewhere....Oscar and Connelly up top...Mouth watering stuff City, keep up the excellent work.
With the potential signings of Vinagre and Connolly, the medical department are surely putting their reputations on the line. If both are fit and raring to go then fine, but should either or both "break down in training" then their signings will look questionable to me
He's widely reported to be on £25k a week so that'll be why. AC gets his big money and we don't have to pay as much.
He managed just 5 games for us in a half season loan where he was available for less than a month. Similar thing happened with his loans to Luton and Venezia when he managed 2 and 5 games respectively. He managed a few more games in his half season loan to Middlesbrough. That's hardly the profile of a robust player. He looked good in his few minutes for us but if we do take him again then I don't see how anyone can consider it anything but a massive gamble.
Connolly isn't an out for the season man. More of a two weeks away type of guy. Seriously though. This squad is shaping up well. A decent winger or two and we can really start believing
We’ll still probably pay most of his wages though. His contract runs out next year so Brighton will want us to pay most of his wages. Same situation to Pelkas. I really don’t understand re-signing Connolly on loan after we signed Delap on loan. It’s another £20k+-a-week onto the wage bill for a fourth first-team striker with injury issues after Rosenior said he wanted a less bloated squad and more robust players. Almost everything the chairman, vice-chairman and manager have said so far doesn’t match up to our actual transfer targets. They say ‘robust players in a trimmed-down squad and we have to be mindful of FFP’ but our transfer rumours are ‘players with recent injury issues on big wages in positions we don’t need cover for’. Make it make sense please.
