Cos the players were passing it to already marked players in the first half of their first game back in preseason. They were doing it when Liam first implemented the style then coached it out of them. Whether you play out or you dont as a style you still aren't supposed to pass the ball to players already tightly marked up. You do it to draw the press and create usable space up top, not to draw the press and continue passing it about the back.
yes, and if you can do it fine when you cant do it it's not worth the risk are you telling me our defenders forget what they had become used to just because they have had a few week's break?
I think they were sluggish and the midfield was too deep and didn't find the out ball. Probably because it's a long time since Tetteh played and they've trained 2 days with Delap. Second half along with most of the second half of last season it wasn't an issue. Doc made 2 individual errors and you're trying to pin that on the managers tactics not the fact that players make mistakes especially first game back in pre season. Just seems you have an axe to grind cos some schoolteacher told you how the amateur game was played back in the dark ages.
For me.... and I am no football coach, if we are playing out from the back and the press is on, the keeper has to play to the outside of the receiving player. Left foot, right foot, then theres always the option of kicking it to touch. We aren't good enough to receive it and roll players. Seri tries it, it works sometimes.
mo do you not think it was exactly the same last season, how many times did we draw the press, beat the press and punish a team….honestly I think you’ll count it on one hand. I’m all for playing out from the back, I think your been too generous with regards tetteh and delap etc. Ingram won’t get in as a number one because he can’t play quick enough with his feet, jones as commendable as defender as he is isn’t quick enough with his feet.
Seri needs to recieve it on the turn, so he hasn’t got his back to goal, then he can play and “break the press”. If he’s got his back to goal then surley we do t beat the press cos he generally has to go backwards or gets tackled
So her journalistic credentials has nothing to do with reporting on city. So she’s just sucking up to acun as the botanic lot and I imagine some others are doing. I can see why Ricos annoyed I don’t give a **** tbh Just wondered why or how she’s getting freebies
Knowing Rico well, he'd have the same opinion on Hadgraft whatever her gender. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
Ahhh, the old sexism card This one tops the article splattered all over the newspapers in which her boyfriend had proposed to her at Glastonbury during her 'favourite' Elton song(your song)... Comes across as a self serving,OMG look at me at the Cup Final type... If she was chocolate she'd eat herself...
Just good at self promotion isn’t she I didn’t watch the game yesterday as I was in pub Many females watch the game in turkey?
The defensive record improved when playing out, so no, I don't buy that it leads to unnecessary goals conceded anymore than lumping it forward and handing back posession. I dont think you need to look much further past the lack of available wingers and strikers for the reason there was a lack of outball at times last season and we struggled to create. I do think if you launch it to midget midfielders playing in the absence of pace and a decent/fit no9 then you're ultimately going to invite more defensive pressure than playing through the 3rds and keeping the ball.
This ongoing Bobbi Hadgraft discussion seems to be making 'facts' out of wild assumptions, personal opinions, etc. Like you Chazz, I've asked 2 or 3 times if these accusations are based on FACTS or not. No answer. I don't think they are. I don't follow her and her fella on social media, but I do see occasional posts, retweets, whatever that pop up. I haven't seen anywhere that they've been sucking up to Acun. We have someone here who is across social and old fashioned media, who travels widely, who's constantly promoting the club here and abroad, showing it in a good light, because they are big supporters of the club. Surely that's a good thing.
It was nothing like that. It's because every sensible person thinks you dont take suicidal risks at the back it's only stupid people who are ok with conceding goals when it can easily be avoided
Again. Apart from last night we haven't conceded a goal from conceding possession in our final third since blackpool at home. The only difference between messing around at the back and playing out from the back is literally success. For example, doc doesnt take a touch as heavy as a 16 wheeler and finds a teammate then its not messing around. I can however point at a few examples where we hoofed it up top to nobody because we had no one and we conceded from that same possession
