Bit of cloud around and the pitch looked green at first glance. Might be a bowling day

Depends on how long the green lasts I suppose.

Recent years have sometimes belied Headingley's rep for wild seam movement. But it's normally a good test there.

Overall though, we have played right into their hands with flat slow pitches. If they had been quick too that would have helped, but it's hard if not mostly impossible making quick pitches in England and two puddings have taken most of the risk away from batsmen who don't play lateral movement well, and theirs are even worse at it than ours.

They are due to win a toss anyway.

Ouch!
Big call that mind. Not sure I ever like to see us putting any team in. Need to bowl better this session than in the first at Lords. And lads, if we DO make any chances, see if we can catch them!

Odd fact. None of the last 8 tests played by Australia have been won by the team winning the toss.

Headingly historically improves as tests go on for batting though. Green pitch too and Woody will be buzzing!!

Yep. Hopefully Woody doesn't get carried away trying to decapitate someone. No need. He's quicker than anyone else, so just off a length will do it. Five over shots at the max I'd say. He might " take wickets at the other end " too. Sometimes happens.

Real pity about Saqib actually. Stress fracture returned. What a talent that lad is.

<laugh><laugh> Ben Duckett looks like he’s won a contest to stand with the players next to Crawley and whoever he’s next to!!
