How do you increase income if you’re low skilled and employed. If you think life is that simple you are not worth engaging with. Here’s a quick response to your questions- invest in increasing social housing instead of pushing people towards the private rented sector, stabilise rent like they do in Europe so it can’t be increased and renters have rights. Give people stability so they can grow instead of giving private landlords riches.
Take steps to improve your skill base. Look for a better paying job. Go to night school. There's never been a better time to do it, companies are desperate to hire people. I'd argue that your thinking that a better life is just going to be handed to you without the need to take any individual action whatsoever is the simplistic viewpoint. I'm all aboard with your suggestions on rent, but a great deal of your thinking seems to be 'why have they got when I haven't'. Not everyone, I would suggest probably not even a majority, of people with money have inherited it or been given it through some kind of unfair advantage. Also - build a million social houses a year - how much of that will instantly be hoovered up by immigrants who come from actual rather than relative poverty and therefore need it more?
If it was about the £28bn green prosperity plan they were absolutely right to delay it due to the financial mess the economy is in…it’s not been scrapped I believe, rather pushed back to focus on more pressing issues like the debt level’s etc
Obviously I get the environment is a massive issue and something we need to invest in but it’s pointless if the economy is in ruins Edit - pointless probably not the best word to use
Now now, we know the rules here Regardless of whether it can be justified or not, whether the explanation for the decision makes sense or not, it's something that can be gleefully celebrated as a point for the blue team. And if you disagree you're defending the indefensible. I don't make these rules, I merely try to ensure they're applied correctly
I understand your frustrations but you are lashing out at usernames on a football message board and name calling is unnecessary and unfair. Posters on here can’t solve the problems that you mention, but they are free to comment on them just as you or I are. The vast majority of posters on this board are good people and would go out of their way to offer help, advice or a friendly ear as they have demonstrated on numerous occasions in the past. My political position is probably very close to yours but I also appreciate that others have the right to hold conflicting opinions and maybe we are just blinded a bit by dogma and can’t see them. Times are difficult for most people at the moment, but whatever situation I find myself in, I know that it is my responsibility to resolve it and howling at the moon doesn’t help.
Despite many people, perhaps everyone, agreeing that this government has been shameful, inept and divisive it seems many find it inconceivable that another administration might be even a little better. The only solution, it seems, is to completely reform the political system even though we all really know it won't happen. We're told we shouldn't accept the status quo and that we get what we deserve. I don't buy that either, we should expect a reasonably competent government ... certainly better than this one. Boris, Truss and Sunak have lowered our expectations below even that of Cameron or May who look like decent and earnest statesman compared to the embarrassments of the last few years.

Wonder what they think sat there listening to the garbage spouted weekly now? Mind you I still believe Labour when they get In won’t reverse one or the horrendous policies the Tories put in place, and they will tell us any excuse why the can’t. I remember the revulsion they felt and spouted when they were getting a 11% pay rise and everyone else got zero, wonder how many of them turned it down, I can have a fairly accurate guess.
It's not so much the policies that bother me, they should be fairly similar no matter which party is in ... ... growth, investment, social care, etc. It's the blatant corruption, of the current government, that's sad, as well as the total disregard for the rules they've imposed on us. Johnson, Truss and now Sunak experiment with the economy, the NHS and social care because neither them, their friends or their families will ever come within a million miles of ever being affected by them or in need of them. It's us who pay the price and take the consequences ... ... and the country is in a mess imo, whether people can face that fact or not. Some can't and automatically defend everything no matter how hypocritical that is.
Spot on Smug, this voting system will be with us long after I have gone so I don't see any point in whinging about it. I watch a lot of parliament on TV when I am working at my computer and I can’t remember a more questionable rabble on either side of the house than we have at the moment. I am a Labour voter but have the utmost respect for some of the older statesmen like Kenneth Clarke, Michael Hestletine and Michael Portillo to an extent. If I am around in 20 years time, I don’t think I will remember any of this lot with the same affection.
