I could watch them over and over again. I think there’ll be a lot of people this weekend who will have seen/heard them for the first time. Best act at glasto this year IMO, and deserve the plaudits.
His voice went ages ago (he became a 'shouty' singer) . The key thing, when so much of your greatest tracks were in a period when your vocal range covered the high notes, is how to adapt when said range exists not naturally but only due to youth, Bowie IMHO was a good example of this. As he aged, he didn't try to sing the high notes in "Life on mars" , "Changes" etc. Another thing I have often seen is that artists in their older age play the tracks at a faster tempo than the original (which in itself seems to put a certain stress on the voice) .
Rick Astley on the drums for Highway to Hell and doing Smith's covers with the Blossoms has to be a rare sight
Apparently Morrisey loves it, its Johnny Marr who has taken umbrage about it, which is a little ironic as he was there and played with The Pretenders (who were great)
I almost missed that Generation sex was Gen X / Pistols hybrid - Billy Idol was sounding pretty good still, and it was an enjoyable set.
That's now called Woodies, apparently. Peel's been accused of being a bit of a nonce. The Hu were playing the West Holts, though. Not really a rock music stage.
I heard this track a while back and then last night it came up on my ipod, quite beautiful with lyrics to make you think

Scooters are the 1 aspect of 'Mod' that I really don't get, so its not for me, but I should imagine that will sell for a hefty price.
30 years ago today Mr Weller released this little beauty Picking up where his eponymous first album had left off and a great sign of what was to follow

I was with you all the way till I got to Number 10. Seriously, not only is it comfortably the poorest Jam single, the only decent track on it being Weller's Aunties and Uncles, but even by Foxton's standards it's not even his best song! I can say that, because in spite of the fact that I own an original copy of the UK 7", and not the re-release from '82 ( you can tell because the sleeve edge is curved on the original. Sorry, I am that sad!) as well as a French promo, they just sit in my record collection gathering dust! So here it is the only decent song on the News of the World 7"
On another day, I might have picked Thick As Thieves, A Town Called Malice or Beat Surrender. Or maybe, That’s Entertainment. I’m fickle
