Ndombele's got the ability to make you sit up and think, "Wait, what the **** did he just do?!" Tons of ability, but little application and the fitness levels of the average pub player. Give him Scott Parker's engine and attitude and he'd be a world beater.
Jacob Steinberg and Dave Hytner are claiming we've offered Kane a huge new contract but naturally he's yet to sign anything. They've not listed how much we've offered but I'd be intrigued to know, he's currently on £200k+. I think de Bruyne is on about £400k a week at City, we should be looking to pay Kane no less than £350k and even probably looking to match de Bruyne's, we can't obviously compete with City's total wage bill but I think we can definitely afford to pay a single superstar massive wage and he completely warrants it. EDIT: If he does choose to leave, which I think he will, whether it be this summer or the next depending on Levy, I want to know we done absolutely everything in our power to keep him and that's the sort of contract that'd say so.
We should give him a long contract, too. Six years, perhaps? Make it extremely worthwhile financially, at least.
Yeah agree, I've long said he can play well into his 30s so long as he gets no major injury, I'd have no qualms on giving him a 5-6 year deal. He'd still be our star striker at least 4 years into it.
As much as I'd love that, Kane stands to gain nothing from such an agreement. Right now he holds all the cards. If anything, the spectre of him leaving after carrying the team for three years is part of the combination of factors that has (hopefully) led Daniel to wake up and smell the beans. Unless a reasonable release clause is inserted (perhaps triggered by things like failure to qualify for the CL and/or win a trophy), Kane hands back all power to the Club for the rest of his career when in truth his only gain from doing this is a salary increase that will happen anyway if he loves. He also gives Daniel somewhere to hide for the next 3-4 seasons which I hope he has no intention of causing. The best option for Kane remains to use this year as leverage against the Club, agree to sign a new contract next summer if significant enough progress has been made, or he walks for free next summer. Either that or a new contract with a reasonable release clause in it.
The only real risk for Kane is that he gets badly injured in the coming season. Even then he could probably get a big contract from Saudi or the US.
That's more a risk for the Club than it is for him. Even if he misses most of the season there will still be a queue of teams climbing over eachother to sign him for free next summer.
Depends on the extent of the injury, obviously. It would have to be career-ending for the risk to backfire, though.
Heard the Solomon medical could be tomorrow, maybe Ali G fancies a round 2 of strawberries and cream?
Bild having a normal one with the headline Kane boss wants Bayern to bleed Quite ridiculous. Anyone who's played Darkest Dungeon knows you try to stack Blight on bosses, not Bleed or Burn...
Reports say a “mammoth” offer, “substantially” increasing his earnings. So £350-400K p/w, probably. But is the financial deal the motivation for staying or leaving? Don’t think so if what we read is correct. And moving to a club with a realistic chance of winning things will bring the financial rewards as a matter of course. But as few clubs will meet Levy’s demands and Kane is unlikely to see Germany or another PL club with similar prospects as options, he’s not likely to move.
No, finances aren't his motive for leaving but when a club wants to keep a key player the general thing they do is offer them a bigger and better contract. He's rumoured to have already agreed personal terms with Bayern though. So it's likely down to Levy and Bayern agreeing on a deal if one can be struck.
More rumours about Hojbjerg bubbling up. Apparently it’s Athletico Madrid and an unnamed german club - people are speculating it’s Dortmund. If it’s 30m or more then I’d honestly take it and move on. He’s a good player and a good servant to the club but there’s not a perfect fit for him under Ange IMO and if that moves the needle on us getting two of our top CB targets instead of 1, while also freeing up some more money for a midfielder who is a better fit for Ange, then it’s good business for me.
Solomon Watch As he's busy turning his head and coughing, Pete Rutzler at The Pathetic claims that Manor Solomon grew up with a soft spot for Spurs because of our proud heritage of Jewish supporters So get ****ed Baddiel
Solomon Watch Ah... https://www.threads.net/t/CuWhatwth5h Also, I see that Not606 can handle Insta posts, but not When The Wind Blows posts
Sami Mokbel is saying Atleti have actually opened talks with us for Hojbjerg. They'd be a very good fit for him, hard working and gritty side seems ideal for Hojbjerg. Mokbel reckons he wants it too, especially as they're in CL.
Perisic close to returning home to Croatia with Hajduk according to Di Marzio. Weren't at his best for us but still chipped in with some big assists and a good amount of them too. Glad I got to see him in a Spurs shirt, bucket list type of thing.
In the grand scheme of things, were it not for the fact that he was free he would go down as a terrible signing. Although I blame that more on Conte for totally (or wilfully) misunderstanding how to use him, at his age + in our team + in the PL.
Ekrem Konur reckons Hojbjerg’s agreed personal terms with Atleti but to be honest Ekrem often jumps the gun on loads of things so wouldn’t read too much into at the moment.
