Saw him at the Palazzo del Te in Mantova. We were driving to Venice, saw a poster and went to buy tickets but it was a total sell out. The band were just finishing the sound check and coming out. I recognised the drummer who I'd gotten into an exclusive party at a villa in Cannes. Joe Cocker had played the Jazz Festival at Juan les Pins and I was 'on the door' at the party. He put us on the band's guest list so we had seats with the Wags and a free bar Joe was fantastic, did three hours and five encores, a great night in a fantastic open air venue on a warm Italian evening ... ... and my first pint of a beer called Peroni
Just watched a Toyah concert on BBC 4 from 1981. To be fair it was quite fun and I can't stop singing I want to be free.
