That's stretching things a very long way from the reality that can be seen with just a simple look, but that aside, there is no way Ukrainians can stop fighting as long as Russian troops are in the country, raping, stealing and murdering. It's easy for Putin to end the war, he simply withdraws his troops. The only option Ukraine have is to drive the Russians out. Anything else at present is simply meaningless. It's not as though the west are gifting him cash. They are sending tanks and artillery which can be seen in action defending Ukrainians right across the front. I'd like to see him rock up to an estate agent with a second hand leopard tank to try and by a villa.

At the influence and decision making level they're all ****s, but the life of the average prole under Russian rule would be a lot, lot worse than under western rule, especially if you're from one of the satellite countries. All of that is meaningless when you look at the reality on the ground, where the actions of Russia means that Ukrainians have no choice but to give up being a school teacher, shopkeeper etc, to fight so that they can simply survive. If Russia drops its weapons, there is no war, if Ukrainians do that, there is no Ukraine. It really is a fundamental as that, and anything else is an unaffordable luxury.
