We should probably get rid of a few players in January who have served their purpose (or not) and are now dead wood. In my opinion, we'd do well to get rid of the following: Bruce - awful errors last season and needs to go for the good of his own prospects and those of LUFC Rachubka - confidence has been annihilated. There's no way he'll ever play well for Leeds again, surely? Again, for his and the club's sake, he needs a move, whether it be on loan or permanent. Parker - his injuries and inability to match Aidy White have been his death knell at Elland Road. Time to ship him out. A Leeds fan and the provider of that great Becchio goal against Millwall, but we've got to be ruthless with unneeded reserves, and he's most certainly one of those. Another centre-back - whether that be O'Dea, Bromby or O'Brien, we'll still have good cover without one of them and it would free some wages for new players, as well as getting an unused player out of the dressing room. Youngsters - Zac Thompson and Charlie Taylor have been knocking on the door of the first team this season but have been unable to force their way in. It might be useful to play them in the FA Cup if we get an easy draw, but otherwise, a loan spell might be helpful for their development. We've been ruthless out of necessity in past transfer windows and I think it's time the above players were made to move on.
Bates, Rachubka, Parker, Bromby, O'Brien should all be axed. We have adaquate back up with the likes of Zac Thompson and Zac Taylor. This will give us an opportunity to get another decent (and tall) centre back in, and maybe see if we can sign Lichaj from Villa
rachubka (but i guarantee he wont), bruce, O'Dear and parker. This means we should bring in a LB, LM/LW and possibly a RB as well (lichaj sounds good) but only if its permanent.
Agree with all apart from the fact I would get shot of Bromby and O'Brien. If O'Dea isn't contracted leave him as a squad player until the end of the season and then get rid of him. I would also show the door to Forssell, I doubt he will have pulled a Leeds shirt on by January and with Somma getting nearer by then why do we need him. Finally Brown he has no place in this squad and certainly not if we managed to get promoted. Of course this would mean some serious inward traffic, maybe Lichaj if he is fit by then, another CB of quality and maybe a young midfielder who we can immediately loan out like we did Clayton as well as a midfielder who can provide some creativity.
It seems more likely than last season since we already know Pugh is coming in permanently and Keogh looks almost certain. We look a bit more willing to spend than last season, although I wouldn't bet on it.
If Pugh is to be signed permanently, then Taylor should go out and get game time, because we'll have enough cover for Aidy White. Thompson should get match experience too. Look how well Lees loans did for him.
Hatfield's on loan to Accrington like Lees was and apparently he's not doing bad either. The loan system's working well for us.
The loan system has always seemed to do well for us. I didnt realise hatfield was out on loan though, do we have anyone else on loan (other than the useless paynter). Speaking of which i think we need to be giving Gimpel a contract and send him out on loan or let him try to fight for a team place, from what i've heard he is excellent and Arsenal are starting to track him now, we could lose him for near on nothing.
bloody no chance---they cost money dont they----fook the borrowing crap an call em a leeds player-----bollocks
I don't see Pugh as a new signing, he was a replacement for Gradel. With Paynter probably being shown the door another straight swap. Don't get me wrong, I know they will be signings as such but they should have been made before the window closed. Bates will probably try and shut Leeds fans up with some witty comment on the match programme about how much was spent in January forgetting we spent sweet FA in the scheme of things close season.
I don't think Pugh has ever been meant as a Gradel replacement. We were trying to sign him while we still thought Gradel would stay. I'm pretty sure we did try to sign him permanently in the summer but Pulis didn't know whether he'd put him in the 25 man squad or not.
