Russia's head general arrested. At what point do they just admit defeat here? They're getting battered on the front and its all falling apart upstairs. It's a ****ing disaster.
Interesting twitter account, surprised it's not censored as many others have been... https://twitter.com/NoMoreNATO please log in to view this image
Expecting Rishi will be making a surprise visit to Jenin to stand in solidarity with the Palestinians against the Israeli atrocities.
No chance mate, nobody will ever speak against Israil because somethying terrible happened to people that didn't live there 80 odd years ago. Yes i know it didn't exist then but Palistine did. Plus they own American politics.
Yeh double standards all over the shop, which is why when I see western politicians getting all sycophantic and holy about Ukraine I see them as nothing but self-serving scummy ****s who are full of ****.
There were quite a few Swastikas on open view in Ukrain before Russia attacked but they seem to have dissapeared. Don't get me wrong, i hate seeing innocent civillians and conscripted military getting killed or losing everything they have because of a war they had no part in causing. I can understand Putin's paranoiya about the west putting military basis close to his borders the same as i understood Americas fear of Russian missiles on Cuba but in the end it's people like us (Civies and soldiers) that pay with their lives or suffer loss and in the end **** all will be much different.
I've never really understood what goes on Israel/Palestian, only what I've learned off you guys on here. Problem for me, when I was at school if someone mentioned Jerusalem, my brain would go, ok you are going to start talking about Jesus now, I'm out. I believe the holocaust happened and I've got no beef with Jews, but I've got no beef with Palestianians either. I don't know how to resolve the problem, so wouldn't even try. It's the same for the Ukraine for me really, I was born into a time when the USSR existed, and if it wasn't for that twat Gorbachev it probably will still have existed - as I said to Archers the other day, could you imagine the uproar in America if a state wanted to leave the constitution, I think it's even written that it's not allowed. So I might understand why a 30 something year old or even a 40 something, might argue that Ukraine should be allowed it's independence, but from my perspective that world didn't exist in my day. I think it just grates knowing that Bush couldn't jump the iron curtain quick enough to shake Gorby's hand, every fooking time that pricks name crops up, wanting to model the world around his ideology.
Interesting you mention the swastikas, because I was watching some of the russian media before our government took it down, and it didn't paint Ukraine in a good light - however, I'm also conscious of that thing called propaganda, but there was a bit of me that always felt that there was some truth in what Putin said, even if he's a raving fooking lunatic.
I felt the same as you about Russia's position before the war started. I think it was a massive miscalculation that he invaded though. Tbh Diego I have sympathy with Ukraine for wanting to liberate their occupied territories. I just dislike the hypocrisy and I won't play any part in joining in with it. Listening to all the news channels and politicians claiming they're defenders of the persecuted Ukrainians, a complete blackout in the media for the Russians but always giving a platform to the Israelis whenever they invade and kill. Watching Zelensky getting standing ovations in parliament and being courted by all the world leaders, meanwhile the Palestinians are treated like **** by those same leaders. ****s.
Gorachev basically agreed to the breaking up of the old USSR and gave the opportunity of self governance back to many countries (a good thing). It went pretty well on the whole apart from the odd war/genocide between the now free countries. Putin unfortunately has seen increasing western influence on some of those countries and has been panicked into trying to restore more influence over them but it's hard to put a cat back in a bag.
I think Gorby did it due to financial pressures, in short they run out of money. I still remember all the Western media back on that date, they were lapping it up, peace forever lol. I forget the name of guy who was in oppostion to what Gorbachev was doing, but I had a feeling Gorby liked the attention he was getting from the West, while those back in Moscow were growling but could do fook all about it at the time. Well now that time has come and Putin wanted to reinstate the status quo.
I'd go and find that map I put up before, but got fed up with getting my ear bent last time, because it was tllted to show the USSR in its full entirety at a time when the Berlin Wall still existed.
You've hit it on the nail, probably inadvertently. The reason you know and can relate with the Ukraine/Russia situation is because what happened before and during the collapse of USSR was in your lifetime, leading up to events in Ukraine/Putin etc now. So like you say, a 30-40 yr old won't necessarily have the same perspective. Israel/Palestine goes back to 1948 but the real game changer came in 1967. What they did in 1967, by illegally occupying Palestinian land is very much like what the Russians did with the Crimea and now in Ukraine. And they kicked out hundreds of thousands of folk into neighbouring countries to live there as refugees for 60 yrs. Them, their kids, their future generations. There were plenty of resolutions to tell the Israelis to GTFO but no action taken. Unless you're old enough to have lived through it or relate to the history, for most ppl their position is either not knowing, not caring or simply believing what they're fed. I don't have a problem at all with Israel's existent but imagine the premise on which it was formed. Imagine the Romans turning up in Britain one day, saying we conquered and ruled this place 2000 yrs ago, we even named the place, our ancient gods told us this is ours and we want it back. You lot can fck off to Scotland and maybe have a piece of the east end of London but we still get to control your air, sea and land. And the rest of the world just looks the other way bcos those Romans have enough influence in the U.S. and Europe. That in a nutshell is exactly what's happened to the palestinians. Anyway rant over, but I felt like you asked lol
All the countries that were controlled by Russia ran to the West at the first opportunity. Russia has never been satisfied with it's borders, people are kidding themselves if they think Putin just wants a 'status quo'.
You probably feel (about palestine), how I feel when I see younger people talking about Ukraine. I just sit thinking but it's not how the world use to be, and how and why those changes took place, it can be very frustrating. Even more frustrating when you know Bush was involved and I know how you feel about American inteference lol. I've read what people have said on the site in regards to constantly defending Ukraine, I get it, I understand, but I'm not going to change my view, and I know that's how you feel about palestinians in the same way. That don't mean to say I support Putin, I don't, but I understand what his argument is, even if he is a raving lunatic.
