Seels like now we’ve done the Szobo deal, Lavia links hotting up. Read mixed reviews? Very high potential. But was hit and miss last year? Is he good enough to be first choice midfielder, looking at age would assume be a bit of a backup with look to next few years if was to sign him, but could put a dent in his development.
He's good enough to go straight in to your starting line up. No way was he hit and miss - only issue was injuries. I don't think he'll be backup wherever he goes TBH - we want 50mill for a reason.
Dodnt see much of him so don’t have much to go on. Only real thing noticed was his brilliant assist for Jota in last game of the season £50m is partly based on potential rather than just ability but seems a fair valuation. How about £25m and can have Morton? Seems fair
He’s an excellent , only issue was when fit we overplayed him at his young age (out of necessity due to his ability and lack of other options!) so he picked up injuries I’d imagine he’s come in and initially play in 60-70% of PL games , but maybe rested for Europe ? He’d be lined up as a Henderson replacement long term if you get him.
Ah yes he is. That’s my lack of knowledge of Liverpool MFs! I’d imagine he’d be a central pivot in a 3 playing CDM while the other two push forward more
Makes sense in that regard as fans form dropped off last year but has been massively overplayed so would seem a natural replacement over next few years while fab phases out. Hope you guys do alright next season
We need to sell some, but Livramento would be fairly far down the queue I would have thought with KWP further down on his contract and multiple more valuable players likely to leave. Or rather he is in the sell-able bracket (as I imagine pretty much all our players are) but when accounting for the full circumstances (remaining contract length, sell on, buy back, other likely departures) it needs to be an attractive offer, not lowball. Tbh that first bid reeked of an attempt to destabilize the player, very underhand for a club that excretes blood money... I guess we should have expected it in a way
Morton isn’t worth 25m or anything close to it. So…no? But it isn’t us doing the negotiations. And in Liverpool’s case they are fortunate as you’d wind up all the clubs you try to buy from with ridiculous offers that will never be accepted. That seems to be Newcastle’s strategy right now
Ah - mixed reviews are going to be from people trying to keep the price down. That or people who never watched him and potentially only looked at certain (potentially cherry picked) stats
Mate you'll only get a very biased view of Lavia here. We had f*ck all to get excited about last season and he is the one thing Saints fans can be proud of. So yeah he's the best midfielder in the world. In reality, he's still very, very raw. Several ugly misplaced passes per game, and his fitness was an issue. Often had to come off at 60-70 mins (understandable for his age though). He is a little too confident at times, and will try to take on a player and run the ball out of defense rather than playing an early pass. But, this is also sort of one of his strengths, because he's very good at it. Can just be nervy to watch as a fan. Basically, he has weaknesses, but they can all be coached out of him, or he will simply improve with experience. Is he good enough for your midfield right now? He's certainly on par with your other youngsters, Jones, Elliott. Strengths; tackling, ball carrying, will play the occasional peach of a defence-splitting pass. But yes, a large chunk of that 50m is for his potential.
It’s very early days yet Tino came to us to play, why would he want to leave now to be 2nd choice at a bigger team? Stay for a season and enhance his status is the right decision
Isn’t the fee also higher because we have to give 20% (I think) to City? So essentially we value him at £40m, but want £50m because of City’s sell on clause.
