This is true but sounds made up.

I went to hire a chainsaw when I lived in France.

There was a sticker on the blade saying, 'Do not attempt to stop the blade with your hand'.

I laughed and asked the bloke if it was for a laugh.

'No mate, someone did that, lost four fingers, sued the company and won!'

Shame it wasn't his neck <laugh>

I was once on a risk assessment course and the trainer told a story of a cleaner in a school. She was mopping a corridor, and had put a yellow "wet floor" sign at each end. She was mopping, walking backwards, and tripped over the wet floor sign had put out herself. She claimed compensation, took it to tribunal and won.

Similar happened at my work last year. Had the H&S advisers in for an audit. She'd been an absolute twat, criticising the fact that some fire exit signs were slightly different font etc. She said she didn't think there was enough signage around the place. I told her that of we had any more it would get confusing. Just as I said it, she fell over the wet floor sign. "And that's another reason why we don't have too many signs" she wasn't impressed

A lot of the site managers I have spoken to deliberately leave a glaring error from the rulebook for HSE to instantly spot, so they go to town on that one thing and don't spend too much time finding anything else <laugh>

Don't get me started on HSE people on sites. We have one currently that wants the lads PPE changed from what has always been acceptable to essentially a fire proof chemical suit. The fact it will make the job even more dangerous is immaterial to this clown of a man.

Put your concerns in writing to him, reminding him that he will be personally responsible for any consequences of wearing inappropriate PPE.

Already done, won't have the lads on site doing anything unsafe and won't be doing what he wants as it's making a dangerous job even harder

Marine tech mate, opposite The County. It’s possible you did see it and the local rag got the wrong date.

    Slightly odd thread bump....

A few pages back we were discussing plans on scaling Everest on a Saturday afternoon.

Ever since, my Facebook feed has been inundated with **** like this.....

    Can't just be coincidence.....

    ..............................

Can we discuss Rachel Riley's tits now please.
