That's just one thing in a long, long list you can't (or won't) understand, because you live in ignorance due to having such a narrow view of the world. Was letting so many migrants in, and then being over accommodating to their claims of victim-hood a good policy?
It’s the big issues like this that make or break elections. The cost of living, siphoning billions off to mates rather than minimising Covid deaths and the NHS being reduced to a crumbling shell are minor in comparison. At Saints for the bank holiday game btw. We might be on zero points still.
Letting migrants into where, France? France gave citizenship to Algerians and West Africans because those places were former French colonies. Was herding them all into ghettos on the outskirts of major cities, then policing those ghettos using heavy handed tactics a good policy?
Ignoring the reality that many of those rioting are outwith your selections, do you think nicking motorbikes and nike's is an understandable or even acceptable response from migrant communities across France? Presumably they come to France because life there is even better than the mess their own culture has made of their homeland.
Keep people pushed down for long enough, eventually they'll rise up and resist. The French authorities, of all people, should know this, given their country's history..
So you're saying France is an oppressive and systemically racist country, with few opportunities for migrants or minorities?
It sounds a bit racist to claim that Algerians many 2nd & 3rd generation are herded into ghettos , as if they have no agency to become productive members of French society. Almost as if their ideology & culture they brought with them Is holding them back .
Not really sure anyone cares about Nike, I saw an Apple store got smashed up too. I can actually understand communities maybe not liking those brands, due to the amount of wealth they own. Now if you were talking about them smashing up the corner shop, that the little old girl has owned all her life, or the budget supermarkets that supply their food, then you might have a fair argument to a certain extent.
Racism, particularly against Arabs, is definitely a thing in France, yes. You should move there, you’d love it.
Especially as many of those regions will have a communist or marxist Mayor. It's not that long ago the tactic of the strikers, egged on by Marxists was very similar to those of the current ones. Presumably the rail workers see themselves as oppressed and in ghettos too. https://www.marxist.com/france-the-struggle-surges-forward-macron-must-fall.htm
Every major city in France is ringed by decrepit housing estates, usually with poor transport links a long way from the town centres. This is where many immigrants live. It’s partly a failure of town planning, plus institutional racism and all sorts of other social problems, exacerbated by very heavy handed police - French cops really are bastards, ours are brilliant in comparison.
