Sounds like we were waiting, hoping that no one would trigger the clause, allowing us to attempt to haggle the price down to around £50million later in the window. Likely never considered spending £60m on him - that's supposedly the same fee that they were quoted for Diaby before walking.
Edward wrote this article then promptly followed it up with another about 24hrs later, saying we'd just bid large for Livramento.
It will certainly be a challenge, as it was this year. It's a challenge that we can smash through though, if things go well. Helps to remember that our top four form didn't only exist last season whilst Liverpool etc had bad years. We did it for the final six months of the preceding season too.
The window is young but the big 6 are going balls deep and Villa are cooking also. It's a reminder that Newcastle is miles away from where they finished last season.
Yeah of course Some take it as such a negative when I or others say top 6 will be really difficult for us. But it's meant to be, it's the top 6 best teams in the league
I think 6th would be the best we can hope for unless they surprise everyone and sign 4 or 5 top players
Getting ourselves into one European comp would be the bare minimum the Saudis will accept I suspect. Howe will be gone if we don't get a top 6 Unless of course they're the most intuitive and patient owners in football
If Newcastle sign 3 or 4 top players I'll change my opinion but they're not going to repeat last seasons miracle with plsyers like Dan Burn schar Murphy Wilson max and almiron.
Four more after Tonali? I'll agree, we need starting upgrades on both wings and at left back. Squad strengthening at CB and CM.
3 if we include him but if it's Tonali and a few pesky stocking fillers I'd be shocked tbh. I mean they must realise newcastle might never get back in the top 4 again for a decade.
Newcastle are in for somewhat of a humbling experience next season. I mean they'll do pretty well , but I don't see them staying ahead of pool that's for sure.
