https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/uefa-ruling-on-duo-club-ownership-could-pose-problems-for-watford/ Will Lancaster needs to do some basic research before he writes articles for the 'football league world'. 1 The Pozzos do not own Granada. The club was sold to Jiang Lizhang in June 2016. 2 Giampaolo Pozzo owns Udinese and Gino Pozzo, his son, owns Watford. Will Lancaster's lack of knowledge about the ownership of Granada, Udinese and Watford means that the final section of his article is nonsense.
One of the things to come out of the fans meeting with Pozzo, was how the club had a very much reduced pay bill. It seems that this creates problems at academy level, and will not help to attract players to the first team. I suppose this could be set off with some large win bonus payments.
Tbf he doesn’t mention Granada but yes there is a difference in owners for us and Udinese . I noticed there is never any fuss over Brighton having a link up with another decent club. Why not ? Because they are popular maybe and flavour of the month I guess .
Will Lancaster certainly did mention that the Pozzos own Granada in his original report, Markthehorn, and he suggested that Granada and Udinese could potentially be drawn against each other in Europe. The report has been altered since my comment and all references to Granada have now been deleted. Either someone has pointed out his careless error to him or perhaps (although less likely) he read my earlier comment on this forum.
Due to extensive pitch renovation works at Loftus Road, our Sky Bet Championship opener against QPR on Saturday August 5 will now be played at Vicarage Road
I reckon the return fixture should be played at The Vic too - the Championship is a dog eat dog world and has no room for such friendly gestures. Perhaps they should have started the renovations immediately after the final match of last season instead of waiting a fortnight?
Watford FC is pleased to confirm the arrival of forward Tom Ince from Reading for an undisclosed fee, on a two-year deal with an option for a further 12 months.
Makes more sense that contract . Will he play as well as he used to against us ? And will Dad be one of our managers soon!
Not sure the club can be blamed for this one ?! QPR probably should have asked for an away game originally.
It seems that it is QPR at fault here, not Watford. He should be raging at the club who have brought this about.
Yes although apparently they asked for an away game it seems but the police said no at first . https://www.qpr.co.uk/news/club-news/qpr-v-watford-fixture-switched-to-vicarage-road/ Guess that is typical of football to make things harder than they needed to be ! Maybe didn’t want QPR travelling up to the midlands or Yorkshire for example where other teams would be playing close by ?
An interesting suggestion, but unconnected with Manchester Utd. signing Harry Amass. Hamzat Balogun joined Watford two years ago after being released from the Manchester Utd. academy (due to injury problems).
