Just read it's £55m plus add-ons so not as bad as I thought tbh.

Yeh that was the point I was making earlier.

If what's left is £65m that's still enough to get a decent CF.

I really think we need a backup CF and another CB though.

That'll only happen now if we offload a few players.

Why do you all think we only have £120m to spend?
Have the club officially announced it, is it someone speculating on our FFP situation or is it just a journos guess.

If the club have somehow let it "slip out" to the press do you think it could be a way of warning other clubs there will be no more United tax?

    Bellingham: 89m + 25m add ons
    Mount: 55m + 5m
    MacAllister: 35m + 20m
    Rice: 100m + 5m.

Is Rice such a game changer to be worth as much as Bellingham? Doubt it. He has been a very big fish in a small pond. In a bigger pond with higher expectations will he perform? And I must say I have more confidence in Mount rising up to the challenge than Macca at the RS. Many of the Brighton transfers have failed to meet expectations.

I think we did well last season.

This transfer window was the opportunity to kick on from there while others looked weaker.

But it seems a lot of clubs are strengthening around us. There are some good signings.

And we may not take advantage.

I just hope the depth in our squad is there.

Hello, it's City here - can you sponsor a goalpost for £50m to help us out on FFP - ..........................

You could ask the same question about Bellingham, great at Dortmund in the BL but how will he cope in a different league with expectations of success.

I think that there is enough evidence of the quality of Bellingham in various settings. He was already outstanding playing for Birmingham at the age of 16, then went to play for Dortmund which is just below Bayern as a regular top side and a regular CL team. He’s been the midfield lynchpin in the national team for many occasions including the European and World Cup. I think he’s a class above Rice. Played well for West Ham but will he make that next step up?

I'm not knocking the lad in any way but as i have said on another thread/board i have a deep distrust of any player that looks a world beater in the BL with Dortmund. We have had a couple that were by no means bad players but never got near their Dortmund performances (Shingi, midfield controller/attacker at Dortmund (industrious busy player for us), Mhiky 22 goals and 25 assists in a season at Dortmund (never got antwhere near that for us or Chelsea), A Boomerang was an amazing striker for Dortmund,( just about decent for Arsenal).

The Chelsea players we bought in the past were at the end of their careers, way off their peaks. Mata and Matic come to mind. Mount is one of the few players we bought from one of our rivals who is yet to achieve his peak. So fingers crossed he could prove to be an inspired buy, complementing Fernandes and Casemiro.

We desperately need a top GK and a no 9. I’m not surprised TenHag is reluctant to let Greenwood go. If he puts his head down and trains hard he could be the striker we’ve been missing.

How many saves/points have you seen DG make that were amazing and not often seen by other keepers?
How many dropped bollocks have you seen him make that any other keeper hasn't?
Who would you personally want to replace him?

Yes i know he is poor (almost useless) with the ball at his feet and passing out but a lot of that comes down to defenders making a pass for him. My biggest gripe is his lack of control in his six yard box and fear of catching the ball, other than that i think you would have to go a long way to find someone better at stopping goals (his main job).
All keepers make great/sensational saves at times but he does it on a regular basis and often more than once in a game because he faces so many shots.

Don’t get me wrong. DG has performed miracles for us on many occasions, saving our bacon. And kept us in tournaments and been player of the season for too many times tbh. But at an elite level he is coming to an end of a great career. There has been high profile matches where he’s been key in us dropping points. In the end these did not matter thank goodness but still Utd needs a gk at the top of his game.

Mata was 26 when he came to United mate.

A million miles from the end of his career.

If it's true he was offered a new contract on lower terms than previous, and they then also withdrew that, then he deserves to walk away freely and sign for whoever he wants.

That's disgusting and straight out the Glazer top drawer, they no doubt see paying him as taking money out of their disgusting, greedy, vile pockets.

Means we still need a keeper. Who they have to pay, funnily enough.

If someone gave me a gun and stood me in front of Joel or Avram Glazer I would pull the ****ing trigger. Twice.

I think the way DG is invites pressure. I don’t think he has the personality to command his defensive line for positional awareness.
Thank God you’re not an American! lol

Even if you shoot those fkers, they’d still steal from the club from their grave.

As for De Gea, he won't match his (reduced wages) with any other team other than in Arabia, We don't know the truth of the contract situation or who is behind it, but it does appear that ETH has doubts about DDG and, as cytrax said, he doesn't command the box and all too often he invites pressure on himself or the defence through poor distribution. I would like to see Martinez between the sticks, yes he was a bit of a dick at the WC, but he is just what we need rather than import someone from a less competitive league. Having said that, you can't take away anything from some of DDG's stops, a phenomenal keeper at his best.

Interestingly, no sign yet of any of the first team squad joining him here in Menorca for his wedding celebrations.......
