In my opinion we looked better with Tetteh. Genuinely thought we would beat Cov away until he went off
We don’t score enough goals, and don’t make a case for a lone striker to be ok and not judge him on goals. You’d judge a keeper on what he concedes. Also remember you wouldn’t take a bet for him to hit 15 goals half way through the season when he had 9…..you don’t rate him that highly either
I think Tetteh is more creative yeah, and if selling Oscar allows us to get a proven championship 9 with both aspects to his game to compete with Benji then I can see the sense in it.
If we are to play a back 4 this season and bring in a first choice left back - who plays Left CB. I think most people would say Macca. It also seems that Liam prefers a more dynamic striker than Oscar to suit his system. Losing Greaves and Oscar on this basis for good fees and increasing the calibre of the 5 or 6 to come in isn’t the disaster some people are suggesting.
The incomings have to justify the outgoings, but having no idea who's coming in then it's a bit premature to judge whether it's good business or not.
I completely agree. I guess the point I was trying to make is that the two we might lose we’re not guaranteed starters. It wouldn’t have been a huge shock for Macca and Tetteh to start the first game anyway.
I suspect we might have prepared for the probability that bids for the 2 of them would come in this summer.
They are probably our two most valuable assets, whilst at the same time both aren't nailed on starters. It's a shame to be forced to sell, but I think it's whats needed in order to progress
Will it though? Of the 11 that started regularly towards the back end of last season, 9 *should still be here so that's pretty decent continuity. As fans we can't have it both ways, we can't complain that last summer was poor but then also complain when we try and make changes to rectify it. There was always going to be more than the 5-6 mentioned coming in, the squad needs more and we can spend money better.
As as opposed to the 'doom and gloom without knowing the incomings but pre-judging anyway' one you mean?
