Australia would’ve expected a lot more at 316/3 last night

Real test for us now.....can we stay true to our new found freeflowing nature and hunt this score down, against an outstanding attack, without throwing it away.

Poor dismissal from Crawley. If you're going to charge down the wicket with wicket keeper standing at the stumps you better make sure you hit it!

We lost about 4 batsmen in the first test dancing down the wicket to Lyon.

Anyway, good start. Need Duckett to kick on and get a big score now.

Umpires would only change it if it was genuinely out of shape though.
The Duke ball had a bit of bad press recently and I read somewhere they were trialing the kookaburra in county cricket...hope I read it wrong!

This and the next 2 rounds are using kooks balls.

the umpires have a metal ring and of the ball won’t go through it gets changed. This years batch are much better than last years where some balls were being changed after 6 overs.

the dukes are hand made and from memory the stitching wasn’t tight enough so the balls went out of shape too quickly.

I know the Aussies once did the same in reverse to get their players used to the Duke before an Ashes series in England

Isn't it good to see England playing good cricket these days without losing easy wickets and be 177-1 rather than 66-3 and hoping Root gets us out of the ****

Surely there should be a stretcher for Lyon? That's a long walk!

I just don’t get why changing an out of shape ball benefits anyone but the bowling side though!!

Probably an attempt to make it fair for both sides I suppose.

Hope Lyon is ****ed for rest of the series!

also just been watching the work of the Ruth Strauss foundation. Broke my ****ing heart that did but what an important charity.

Lyon could be out of the test if not the series there. If the calf is torn he won’t play. Good for us. Not for them or him obviously
