So Maddison to Spurs and maybe Szobolzai to Liverpool now.

We're losing out to our closest rivals... not good.

Apparently the thinking with Maddison was that a team with both him and Saint Maximin in it would be too weak defensively. So, rather than sell Saint Max and buy Maddison, they decided to leave Maddison and keep saying Max... Savvy? Howe really rates Allan it seems.

This is an extremely bizarre transfer window so far. We are owned by PIF who have bought multiple players for their own saudi league.

This is fine. But we are literally in the champions league and no new transfers (yet) confirmed.

But I suspect they will come. They have too. They would make a fool of themselves if we didn’t sign too players.

The window is young Newcastle have essentially signed two players and spent around 62 million in the process.

They'll get the best players they can without just thrashing around willy nilly...

OK maddison went to Spurs but Newcastle probably want to do something else maybe a better option.

There's two ways to look at it.

I'd of preferred us to just offer the ****ing money Leicester asked for and stop pissing about. We were blatantly in for Maddison, there's no doubt about it. It's been reported everywhere for 6 months.

There's a massive difference between panicking and just thinking we made a mistake by the way, before the usuals start to get all pissy about opinions flying about.

I expect we probably did offer if Spurs have sealed the deal for £40m. Not a lot for a player with his credentials (we paid more for Gordon). So it's probably more ti do with Maddison himself preferring Spurs/London - and their wages.
Good luck to him.

Let's all just let that sink in for a second.

Newcastle United, spent 40m on Antony Gordon, played him 16 times of which 3 were starts and most were out of position

and then lost out on Maddison who was the primary target in the first place.

Ok, that's enough pondering
