I’m told that the squad can’t believe how hard/intense training is under Duff. Clearly feels that the squad wasn’t fit enough under Martin - may explain why we threw away points - all those points at/near the end of games last season
Swansea City can confirm the departures of four members of the club’s coaching staff. Assistant head coach Matt Gill, goalkeeping coach Dean Thornton, first-team performance analyst Ben Parker and head of rehabilitation Rhys Owen have all left the club to join Southampton. Gill, Thornton and Parker joined the club following Russell Martin’s appointment as head coach in July 2021, while Owen was added to the Swansea staff in the summer of 2022. Swansea City would like to place on record its thanks for their hard work during their time in SA1, and wish them well in their future careers.
We are chasing Josh Key from Exeter. 2 bids rejected so far. https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/c...-amid-west-brom-and-plymouth-argyle-interest/
Swansea City will face Carmarthen Town in the first round of the Nathaniel MG Cup. The JD Cymru South outfit are three-time winners of the Welsh League Cup and have played in Europe four times. The Swans will face them away from home at their Richmond Park base. Swansea City received a wildcard entry to the competition on Tuesday, with the club competing against Welsh clubs from the JD Cymru Leagues. This will mark the first time the Swans have featured in the competition, and it will provide valuable exposure to senior football for a number of young players in the club's ranks. The date, venue, ticketing details and kick-off time will be revealed in due course. Ties are due to take place over the weekend of July 21.
It would be a shame but not too unexpected. I wonder if Duff has made a good impression with the squad? You never know, he could enthuse some to stay
If he goes he goes, but don’t get moving to a championship club, surely someone in the Prem is prepared to take a punt on him.
This is a farce, they charged ardal league clubs £50 to try and get a wild card and I bet all the while they knew they were putting those two in there. Don’t think they should be personally, only clubs from the same pyramid, stopping some lower league clubs playing top welsh sides.
Swansea City head coach Michael Duff has made two additions to his coaching staff. Alan Sheehan and Martin Paterson have joined the club as assistant head coaches, and take up their duties with immediate effect. Sheehan, 36, who has held first-team coaching positions at Luton Town and Southampton, enjoyed a lengthy playing career that saw him feature for Leicester, Mansfield, Leeds, Crewe, Oldham, Swindon, Notts County, Bradford, Peterborough, Luton, Lincoln and Northampton. Paterson, meanwhile, played with new Swans boss Duff for Burnley and Northern Ireland, helping the Clarets secure promotion to the Premier League in 2009.
