Good Morning. It's Monday 26th June, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road Leeds name their price for Meslier Leeds have slapped a £30m price tag on Shot-stopper Illan Meslier. The 23yo is renowned as being one of his best young keepers in the World, and even though he had a poor campaign last season, he is expected to be high on the wish list, of many top Europe sides. Data compiled from 'FBref' give the young Frenchman a 'PSxG minus goals metric' (the calculation showing opportunities keepers should have saved) of -12.4, placing him 26th out of 27. His shambolic defence did little to inspire confidence. Only Max Wober and Robin Koch come through the season with any sense of dignity. If truth be told, the remainder should be embarrassed by their performances of last season. please log in to view this image Leeds linked to four shot-stoppers With Meslier in the shop window, and Robles released back in the wilderness, Leeds need ready made replacements. Klaesson, Van Den Heuvel and Christy are untested at first team level, and Leeds will need a safe pair of hands between the sticks, if they are to win promotion back to the top flight. Karl Darlow (32, Newcastle Utd), Viktor Johansson (24, Rotherham) Freddie Woodman (26, Preston) and Marek Rodak (26, Fulham) have all been linked with Summer moves to Elland Road, but as of yet, nothing concrete is in place. Shot-stopping is only part of a keepers responsibility these days. Leeds will want a No 1 with good distribution abilities to launch quick fire counter-attacks, something their present goalies have failed at miserably in recent times. please log in to view this image Kristensen set to follow Llorente to Roma Weeks after pledging his allegiance to Leeds, it looks like Rasmus Kristensen could be following Diego Llorente to Roma. The 25yo, a £10m purchase from RB Salzburg twelve months ago, made 26 appearances last season, netting three times (one less than Bamford). He took in in turns, challenging Ayling for the No 3 shirt, though in reality, both lacked anaerobic pace, and got turned more times than a wheel! Just like Llorente, Kristensen is likely to leave on loan, but Leeds want to include a clause that will lead to a permanent move. Leeds have already had their fingers burnt once by 'i Lupi' (the Wolves). It was expected that Diego Llorente's January loan move, would conclude with an £18m permanent transfer, yet it never materialised. He signed a three and a half year extension to his contract last December, a baffling decision which the Elland Road hierarchy are now regretting. please log in to view this image
Good morning everyone Annnddd waiiitttttttttttttt for it, The big news we have all been waiting for, is finally Imminent now
Morning all If we were looking to sign Meslier I’d be disappointed at spending £10m not alone £30m so if we get that much it’s excellent business This loan out business could prove restrictive, need the new coach announced today so we can start getting on with it
What I find amazing is that even in the days of digital media and the number of on line football sites, there is no local journalist in the know. Nobody knows fook all so you have to say that the club got at least one thing right, they don’t leak. Even the bookies are struggling as the odds keep changing. I do however feel that fans have been doing their own research into Viera and bailed out on him. Hoping the club gets the green light from the EFL and then announce the appointment of our new head Mr V. Imminent
Good morning, I can't see us get what we're asking for Meslier, there's not even been any valid links to him. Meslier apparently said he would only go to a team like Chelsea if he was going to be first choice, as things stand he could be our under 23's keeper next year. There's a big gulf between his opinion of himself and where he actually is. I'm hoping for an avalanche of news this week. Ownership and Manager announcements and then let's get the ball rolling with the transfers to give us time to gel. Our pre season starts in a couple of weeks.
Morning all. Were not getting 30m for Meslier. It'll be another loan with some fantasy commitment to buy at the end. You heard it here first
Not sure who will come in for him after the way his last season ended. Not a chance of getting £30 million.
Tommo pre season starts on Sunday and the only players not due back are the ones on International duty including the kids with U21 U17 etc so even Koch will be back on Sunday/Monday
Meslier was on the bench for France U21s even though he started every qualifying game. Klaessen was and Hjelde played in the same game for Norway and got beat by the frogs 2-1. Will Klaessen be our Number one now?
Wouldn’t have thought so given they brought Robles in. Might as well move him on if he’s not going to make the grade.
I was meaning specifically our pre season "tour" that we have to field a team for, but absolutely, once the players are back in training you'd hope the ins and outs will start falling into place.
“Tour” even that turned into a PR disaster as we were supposed to be the USA playing in a tournament but when it looked like we were going down we got told not to come. Think we get a few days in Norway now….
Robbie Kean used his couple of weeks at Leeds to go out and get himself the head coach job at Macabi Tel Aviv. According to Sam he was great in the dressing room, well what a lad, he gets a job based upon that FFS. Wonder if Karl Robinson now takes over at Liverpool ….
A large number of Leeds players have a clause in their contract allowing them to go out on loan for a season if they are relegated. It's been suggested that Roma haven't even bothered negotiating with Leeds; regarding Llorente and Kristensen, they've just taken advantage of the loophole Leeds Utd have created. Rodrigo, Llorente, Roca and Kristensen are all expected to depart Elland Road this week, all on loan!!!
These loan-to-buy deals appear to be a sham (unless it's Leeds and JKA). How did Orta agree to a loan/buy deal for JKA for £20 million and HAVE to stick to the deal, and then turn around a do a deal with Roma for Llorente, whereby they can just turn around at the end of the season and tell us to "do one". Also, he spent £28M of Leeds money on Rodrigo 3 years ago and is now intent on buying him for £3.5M for Sevilla. On what planet does any of this add up?????????
As always, we are being taken for complete mugs. And the real funny thing is there are people actually believe this **** show will win promotion at first attempt
Rodrigo will leave for nothing. I believe he's one of many who have the go out on loan offer if Leeds are relegated, and teams will take advantage big time......
