He had a year on his contract here and it was still only a free transfer to Bolton. Was a weird decision to give him his last contract to be honest.
https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/66009304.amp BBC have said undisclosed fee (which could of course still be free) - Alrhough the main reason in giving out contract extension to players who are loaned out in the lower leagues is to secure a fee. He joined saints at 14 from Chelsea.
Saints leading the race to sign 19 year old Man City midfielder Kian Breckin on loan, according to The Sun.
Well if it's for free, what's the harm? And since he's been bossing it in midfield for the country's most successful u21 team, can't be all that bad.
He might be just what we need, mind. Every year there are a handful of young loan players who make a massive impact on the championship, usually for teams towards the top and from teams towards the top of the PL. Sure, we could sign a Croatian International or an experienced operator who's bossing it in the Belgian league, or perhaps someone who's having rave reviews in Scotland...you can see where I'm going with this. I'm stopping looking at age now and hope the decision makers are too. Sure experience counts for something and a balance needed but not at the expense of quality.
Wrong guy. The rapper is Derrick Abu. He's a 19 year old right back recently released by Chelsea. We're signing him on July 1st.
What if Breckin is significantly better than Doyle? You would rather field a weaker team to prioritise home grown players?
Because Breckin is reportedly going to be a season loan, so I'd rather we prioritise the development of our own.
Doyle and Breckin are different positions. Doyle is purely a CAM, while Breckin can operate all through the midfield, from DM to CAM. We will have a serious dearth of midfielders, once Lavia and Prowsie piss off. So any freebies is surely a good thing.
Yeah but if the club think Breckin is a better player than Doyle then I don’t see the issue. We have a 2/3 season window to go back up, we need to be putting together the strongest side possible, including loans
That doesn’t bode well. Why would Chelsea release a good player and not loan him out instead. Surely he can’t be that good if they just released him?
Chelsea seem to have a different business model. They loan out players Willy nilly. Also Tella has only had one good season.
One good season, yes, but he is now worth 15m. And we got him for free. I agree it doesnt sound too hopeful but he isn't costing anything. Might as well take a look.
