No offence to Axl and the boys but that was the Slash show. Could've watched him all night.

Axl probably knows it. Slash hasn't lost anything and is still one of the greatest!

Imagine Axl Rose in his prime having that set last night though! His voice just can't do it anymore which is a shame, his energy etc was better than I expected, but the voice just couldn't do it anymore!

As a keen follower of Rock are you surprised that rock gets a bad write up. Hardly trendy enough for some guardian reporters. By the way I say that as not the biggest GnR fan. Don't really know why I never fully got into them but Slash is some boy.

It's the Independent, mate. He'll be annoyed that his vegan coconut latte got spilled or something.

Never seen them live or watched last night, but I once took a call from a bloke who turned out to be Slash.

I loved the Arctic Monkeys first few albums, but their recent stuff and that set are ****ing tragic. It's like watching a wedding singer do a couple of the arctic monkeys songs!

At least Guns N Roses tried to give people what they expect from them, what made them big!

I've banged on and on so far on this thread about Axl's vocals not being there, I'm boring myself but that article basically (as far as I read before closing the link) slags everything off because they are a rock band from the 80's.

It's different looking in from the outside mate, you're on the 'inside' because you love the band.

I grew up with Rock music and went to see loads of bands so not anti-Rock at all. But going from wild young men of Rock to fifty years older isn't easy to pull off. Dressing and acting the same can easily make you look like a tribute band.

And when the vocalist can no longer sing it's a difficult watch imo ...

... I'm not sure how many people would be into them if that had been their debut.

    Aye this. Terrible article

No live streams showing at the moment on iPlayer. Shame, hopefully start soon. Looking forward in watching Blondie, The Editors and QOTSA

Did you watched Blondie on the IoW festival, as with Axl time has not been too kind, on the other hand Sparks flew and they got away with it, funny old game. On another tack time seems to be catching up with the Glasonbury festival, its on a slippery slope imo.

Bringing in acts who wouldn't normally piss on a festival turns it into a Las Vegas show at times imo. Dolly Parton, McCartney, Elton John, etc, are poor headliners because it's obvious and too kitch.

... It's one thing having nostalgia acts, like Tom Jones, as a mid-afternoon sing along, but they're not cutting edge and never were imo.

Elton John has some good tunes but it's show over content as he's always been. The songs sound good but the lyrics are often lame, sometimes ridiculous .. Crocodile Rock ffs <laugh>

I didn't. I have seen her before at Glastonbury. Sure she opened the other stage when I was there.

Glastonbury will be fine. Music changes but that place has a solid foundation. Sells out immediately without any artists being announced. People don't just go the music. It's the place. So much to do.

Christene and the Queens are certainly different. Singing topless. Never seen that before. They are quite good.
