Latvia have closed their border to Russians and the Kremlin have stopped general travel in and around Moscow.
Surely the National Guard would be responsible for putting down this rebellion, it is specifically designed for this purpose and claims to be 340,000 strong.
I've not paid much attention to the war recently but didn't the Wagner boss want to use tactical nuclear weapons in Ukraine?
He has been calling for ammunition for months, Wagner were sent to Bahkmut to kick the Ukrainians out and punch a hole in the area. Obviously it was a tactical and logistical disaster, 30,000 Wagner casualties is the general figure. Out of desperation, Wagner began demanding new types of weaponry to dislodge the Ukrainian position, this was ignored by the Russian military. I remember reading it was perhaps in an effort to weaken Wagner. I think to military people who know something about a warzone, it becomes apparent very quickly that Russia is losing and the infighting is due to passing of the blame. To this day, Wagner has not mentioned Putin as a direct cause, he blames unnamed bureaucrats. It's the old Tsar rule, you can blame everyone around the Tsar, but never the Tsar himself.
You don't think an army of civilian contractors marching on the capital to overthrow part of the government counts?
I read one article this morning (from a news site I didn't recognize, so who knows if true) that they took over a weapons depot that actually contained nuclear weapons. Now, even if true, having nuclear weapons doesn't necessarily mean they have the ability to detonate them or the will to do so... But I don't like the idea of a mercenary group having control of nuclear weapons... Especially one that might sell them to help fund their current rebellion if this drags out.
well yes my point , which i thought was obvious , that it is hardened soldiers with Tanks etc against some glorified plod who have never fired a gun in anger
That's a shame... Still, it was entertaining for a half day I suppose. Shows support for Putin is not rock solid though.
Of all the potential outcomrs to this I didn't see that one coming. How disappointing Suspect Prizoghin will be dead within a month.
If Wagner sit on Rostov and do nothing, they give Putin a perfect excuse to withdraw from Ukraine. "We were heroically defending our motherland in Ukraine, however, factions at home have back stabbed us just like they did during WW1. We have had no choice but to reverse our military to protect the heart of the motherland and the Russian world."
