Yes he was a cop in Gwent. I think he won won about £100k on the lottery about 20 years ago. Billy was a legend
Yep - Billy was a great guy. Got to know him reasonably well when I was on the Neath Committee with him. There was one story that a Neath wing evaded a tackle by running off the pitch behind Billy to score a try in the corner - Billy kept his flag down
A sad state of affairs. If Y11 have the money, then why would the Ospreys "move" to Cardiff? Because of the ground share with the Swans? And why wouldn't the Dragons get the boot instead? It always saddens me to see such low attendances for the Os as well (a big problem).
I struggle to believe and understand the logic. In many respects it is better to rent (for a relatively small cost) the ground rather than own your own - increasing cost of maintaining an aging stadium, re-laying a new Desso pitch etc
Anyone watch the U20 Championship? France were sensational, brushed off England in the semi and destroyed Ireland in the Final. Ominous for the future.
From The Rugby Paper - Sunday 30th July SAUDI Arabia are looking to step up their programme of hosting major sporting events with a sensational bid for the 2035 Rugby World Cup. The Rugby Paper understands that the Kingdom is preparing to throw their hat into the ring and rival Japan, Italy and England to host the event. Australia were successful in their bid to host the 2027 Rugby World Cup in May 2022, while the United States were nodded through as hosts of the tournament four years later. Japan became the first host outside the traditional Tier 1 nations when they held the 2019 World Cup, while England last held the tournament in 2015, crashing out at the group stages. England has long been seen as the piggy bank that allowed World Rugby to break new ground in Japan, but the Kingdom can generate the kind of revenue Twickenham’s money men can only dream about. The oil-rich nation have a Public Investment Fund with total estimated assets of £540 billion. They are owners of Newcastle United and established LIV golf, and have been widely accused of socalled ‘sportswashing’. They have expressed a strong interest in hosting major sports events and, at the end of last year, were considering a bid for the 2036 Olympics and 2040 Fifa World Cup. Rugby has been played in the Kingdom for nearly 50 years after being introduced by ex-pat Brits. In 2012 the national team, made up of local players who had their first-ever win in 2010, finished third in the West Asia 7s and the sport is described as minor but growing.
Where is it going to end. It will probably be the World Indoor Bowls next moving from the Potters Leisure Resort in Norfolk
Playing in that heat is just stupid... oh wait, that's a rather large brown bag, the players will cope! Indeed.
Anyone watching the games today? Looking forward to the Wales game to see how we shape up, although you'd expect England to shade it. A full day's viewing between the footy and the rugby, hope I've got enough beers
